Post-Match Thread and Ratings York City 3-0 Southend United

I doubt very much toms playing budget spreadsheet accounts for sacking and paying off daz, benno and maher. More likely they'd hope if kev mutually agreed a deal to go the other two would just leave anyway with kev gone. However, if think all 3 would sit on their positions hoping to get sacked and paid off. They managed to get themselves a decent deal not long ago so I guess you couldn't blame them. Who knows when you're next going to be employed in football management.
I hope today's a wake up blue sky moment and after Xmas we turn into an attacking team without all the 'set up not to lose' nonsence. When you set up not to lose and let 3 (nearly 4) in, it must surely tell you we aren't good enough at the back to do that. Only Ralph has that ability in my view. Whereas with Kendall (speed and Fox in the box) bim (strength and turning defenders), bonne (hold up and wins headers), walker (on the left), we have a threat to score a lot of goals with Morton's vision in midfield.
Maybe it's 433 for the next half of the season. The alternative is boring shaky defensive dross hoping to just about avoid relagation.
and obviously still believe in the fat man in a red suit.. it's never gonna happen with Kev i'm afraid. Maybe if one of the others were in charge, as long as theyve not been brain washed.

If anyone else was in charge other than Maher, they'd be sacked.

Unfortunately, we will fart our way to 15th/14th. He will be allowed to build again in the summer. I really don't think he's the right manager for us, we need experience from someone who's got out of this league before.
Again? By “again” do you mean settling for 6th choices way too late into the window??

I am not sure whether this is the worst team we have ever had or the worst set up. The fact remains atm we have a rubbish defence, zero real midfield and can't score goals but our league position and winning 6 out of 23 says it all.
C/MON COSU find some balls and get rid of Maher in the long run it will save you money by paying him out instead of losing the supporters ..

Tough game. I thought we were alright in brief patches, but they were very brief.

Defensively we look horrendous. Up front we look toothless.

We had our chances in the 2nd half tbh. The new lad had a couple (one was a missed tap in), Bridge squandered one, Bonne bungled one. We had one cleared off the line first half too.

We lack speed, both in our style of play and the individual players. York were always a danger because they had pacey outlets.

The jury’s returned on Crowther, he’s not ready. He had a shocker today. Colin won’t want to see those goals back either. Bridgey offers very little now & Coker doesn’t drive us. Morton the pick of the midfield again, just.

Maher will get his fair share of criticism, but it’s hard to see how he can be blamed for catastrophic defensive issues. It feels like we’ve run aground & need a mini overhaul. 7-8 new players needed for me.

York is a fantastic city though. Pretty much the only bright side to an otherwise horrendous few hours.

I can only say one thingand its just 3 words in capitals letters . **** OFF MAHER , Cosu if you really serious get rid off and bring in either Harris or a manager with nous . F*ing tired off this **** .As is so many supporters, wake up COSU MAHER IS F*ING USELESS

Have you ever watched a Neil Harris team play?

If you think he’s the answer, I’ve got a bridge to sell you…. And it ain’t Jacky

The 3 year contract to the management group is really starting to look like the heart ruled the head, very naive.

Would like someone in the know to confirm our budget and where that ranks. Posts saying playing budget has been slashed, what can Kev do etc. Don’t believe this to be true, from my sources we are around 5th / 6th highest budget but things change, so prove it…

Currie & Bentley - What exactly are they each responsible for day to day in the training pitch? ‘Coaching’ is a vague description. Who focuses on taking set pieces, defending corners, attacking corners, defending an overload, attacking with an overload, fitness and sprint drills, shooting, crossing !?

Crowther is crap, nice fella but he isn’t good enough. Moncur send back to orient.!
Bonne is past it couldn’t finish his dinner let alone a 6 yard tap in.!
If we don’t beat ebbsfleet the leagues whipping boys then Kev has to go.! Been a great servant to the club but being a manager is t working for him.
Crowther is a right sided centre half and has never been played as a right sided centre half

People worried about the three year deals the management signed. I'm sure there are clauses in them so the club doesn't have to pay the full amounts to each of them if they sacked them.

It all feels incredibly stale.

Not sure how kev turns this around other then throwing his playbook and entire management ethos out of the window and try something different. I cant see that happening tho, and will the players buy it?

The management trio are very close to the fans turning on them, and that is the end really.

They've all been through a lot these last few years, and it seems like they are out of ideas and everyone is jaded. Should have perhaps parted ways when cosu came in. Remains to be seen how cutthroat cosu will be, and how savvy they will be finding a replacement.

If kevs gonna turn it around it needs to happen now.

Harris and Barrett massively overachieved on a very limited playing budget at Millwall in the Championship. Would we really care about playing style if we were getting results?

For all the past achievements of Maher and Co this season has been woeful. It is easy to overreact after a performance such as today. Mahers post match comments are not reflective of a match where we were outclassed in every department.

If we don't beat Ebbsfleet and Braintree I think he may have to go. I just can't see him turning this one around and think he has run his course. It's unfortunate given the circumstances of his first couple of years in charge, but the performances this season have just not been acceptable.

So reluctantly for me he may have to go if things do not improve immediately.
