Post-Match Thread and Ratings York City 3-0 Southend United

Kev Maher is and will be getting a lot of stick over this game. Does he deserve it? Yes, and I'm one of his biggest supporters. Behind the scenes, you won't get a harder working and more dedicated Manager. But, ,,,,,,,, some of these players need to take responsibility. We were in the game, heading for a point, and even more with good fortune. To lose all three headers from corners is gut wrenching. We know Collin is more scared of crosses than Dracula, so he's going to stay on his line, meaning our defenders have to win those headers. They not only lost them, it was like they weren't there.

I have long been an advocate of pointing out our slow predictable build up and lack of energy. This has to be what Kev has drilled into them and I really don’t want to personalise an attack on him. What he did during the tough times was nothing short of miraculous. I think the world against us was what kept a depleted squad competitive but now we have a squad with subs I think Kev has been found out. It can be argued that Cardwell and Kensdale leaving has really hit us and I would agree without Kensdale we are no where as solid at the back.
To make an example of what I am trying to say is I very much see Kev as I did Callum Powell.
Tremendous dedication and effort but just being a nice guy and trying hard does not mean you are good at your job. The decision is whether to let Kev have money in Jan or the summer and see what bringing in players he actually wants does or bring in someone else.
How long before the goodwill runs out and the fans really turn on him

I personally have loathed Kev’s tactics for quite a while But ands it’s a big ‘BUT !’ He kept the team going when he could have walked away and I am still living in the ‘we still have a team’ moment so although disillusioned with current results and tactics, I still am grateful for his loyalty and effort.

Let’s just stop being so negative on the pitch and try going forward rather than sideways and backwards.

How many times are we going to read comments of “tactically set up all wrong”. Surely that alarm bells about the management team if they are forever setting up wrong.

The substitutions have always been questionable under Maher’s tenure. He more often than not, leave it too late or makes questionable subs.

6 points in the next 2 games or he’s gone should be the stance by COSU. Unfortunately in some people’s attitudes Maher could kill their dog and they would still find a positive in it.
should be gone by sunday morning sorry

I doubt very much toms playing budget spreadsheet accounts for sacking and paying off daz, benno and maher. More likely they'd hope if kev mutually agreed a deal to go the other two would just leave anyway with kev gone. However, if think all 3 would sit on their positions hoping to get sacked and paid off. They managed to get themselves a decent deal not long ago so I guess you couldn't blame them. Who knows when you're next going to be employed in football management.
I hope today's a wake up blue sky moment and after Xmas we turn into an attacking team without all the 'set up not to lose' nonsence. When you set up not to lose and let 3 (nearly 4) in, it must surely tell you we aren't good enough at the back to do that. Only Ralph has that ability in my view. Whereas with Kendall (speed and Fox in the box) bim (strength and turning defenders), bonne (hold up and wins headers), walker (on the left), we have a threat to score a lot of goals with Morton's vision in midfield.
Maybe it's 433 for the next half of the season. The alternative is boring shaky defensive dross hoping to just about avoid relagation.

Why do Currie and Benno have to leave if Maher goes , incoming Manager may like to keep them. From what i understand when Currie was manager of Barnet he played an attacking style of football, as for Benno at Canvey i think it was definitely did nt play crab style football . I wonder if they agree with the style of football we are playing.

Fair point, but I doubt we'd continue with a package of 3 which is what they are. believe contracts were agreed on a 3 musketeers basis, one for all for one etc. It is of course possible Darren could take over but I just don't see that happening.
You are right though. If Maher goes, it doesn't mean they have to leave.

If anyone else was in charge other than Maher, they'd be sacked.

Unfortunately, we will fart our way to 15th/14th. He will be allowed to build again in the summer. I really don't think he's the right manager for us, we need experience from someone who's got out of this league before.

wouldnt it be nice to hear from them both ,i realize this wont happen but i wonder if someone or some people that know them well can say something even under an alias. I and i think many others would just like to hear there honest thoughts and opinions .
