The Essex CCC Thread

Not wishing to sound like I know something you don't, I'm reliably informed the the fee all up for Bravo was nearer the 50k mark.

That would just be unbelievably stupid by Essex......I know there is a winners cheque to be won, but with no champions league, surely the financial advantages of winning don't add up to paying this much to Bravo, even if it was guaranteed to bring success.

Somerset 240/8 (305/8). Tresco 154*, but they've collapsed from 225/4, with Masters now on a H/T after dismissing Phillips and Thomas in consecutive balls

64-2.

Palladino b Phillips c Buttler for 16. Not looking like a great start.

That's not too bad. Palladino was only the nightwatchman. If Essex were going to mount a challenge then it was always going to be down to these two in at the moment to set a platform by scoring the bulk of the runs.

I think the most important aspect of that is that it is a 3rd day pitch and not a 4th day one.

Don' wanna be funny..........know wha' I mean..........but I reckon Essex would have had problems getting half that total on a first day pitch! Heard something on TMS,
that they thought they were going to get three points from this match but have ended up with a miresable one point...........didn't hear why?

Big thrashing today, we'll need to beat Gloucestershire tomorrow to have any chance of qualifying.

A terrible terrible defeat against lame aimless opposition

My football team are utter gash, heading for non league oblivion or more likely just oblivion full stop .. and my cricket team are imploding in front of my eyes, a month ago we were in form and flying, now relegation is a certainty in the 4 day game, the t20 went sour for me the moment we signed Bravo and now our CB40 campaign is on the brink of tatters, (and yes, i did manage to see them BOTH lose in the same day last Saturday the tossers)

and now on top of all this it appears my summer of sex booze and drugs is at an end as i've got myself a job and at 6am Tuesday i will be dragging my sorry arse out of bed and back into the rat-race ... ITS SOOOOOOOO UNFAIR !!!!!

2 points deducted for slow over-rate apparently!

A solid win but with three games to go it looks like we'll have to win all of them to have any chance of getting the best runners up slot and we still unfortunately have to play Yorkshire (also Gloucestershire still play Netherlands twice).

Yorkshire.........10 9 1 0 0 18 +0.494
Essex...............9 6 2 0 1 13 +0.032
Gloucestershire..9 6 3 0 0 12 +0.374
