The Essex CCC Thread

Tempted to say that is nearly a good days work done....................................perhaps I should wait to see what our total is at the end of the afternoon, that is........

Will Bopara reach double figures again during the rest of this season? Will he even get there if we add up all of the rest of his scores? We need him to start firing.

Castle Park is quite often a bunsen, so I'm not sure about batting 4th on there. Good start by Essex, but a word of warning Hildreth has been in great form of late.

I think we know who to blame :Harry::Witch Hunt:

Mike Atherton sticks it to Essex and Bravo in The Times today:

Money can’t always buy success

"Traditionally, Essex were the most conservative of counties: they produced their own cricketers and spent their money wisely and carefully on some of the best overseas players — Allan Border, Mark Waugh, Salim Malik — to have graced the county game.

On Saturday they paid Dwayne Bravo in the region of £10,000 to play one, hopefully two, matches. This was modern county cricket in extremis: an overseas player with no feeling for the club, the supporters or players, attempting to do a professional job for which he was paid handsomely. Bravo had a stinker; no one mourned Essex’s semi-final defeat.

Ten grand would go a long way in an Essex league club starved of funds and some might argue that it would be a better use of resources. They would be right, too. "

So, Essex are 151 all out.

I wonder if all the moaning idiots on the ECCC forum are still going to blame Garons for our relegation, because it seems we can't bat at Colchester either. Or any other ground in the country.

Not wishing to sound like I know something you don't, I'm reliably informed the the fee all up for Bravo was nearer the 50k mark.
