If thats the case then we probably never will have the money. So why make statements which i just bare faced lies. That is no way to run a business and no way to treat loyal customers who have put money in through thick and thin.

I still wish people would stop crawling up Rons backside. He is not a saviour and there are plenty of potential owners out there with crazy amounts of money its just about being lucky enough to find one like Reading Brighton Rotherham even Peterborough.

There are plenty of interested parties out there. The problem is Ron wont give it up until the whole lot comes crashing down. He cannot afford to get the project going or completed and he cannot afford to walk away for a realistic sum to new owners. Very worrying.

Well I think that is far closer to becoming a possibility that many people on SZ would like to consider

The phrase "on a knife-edge" would be very appropriate.

Would you care to mention one cast iron certainty that would be prepared to take us on? Bearing in mind survival would still entail moving to a new stadium, just who is willing or able?

If you really think that someone who has made tentative enquiries would support or endorse the details being made public then you are massively misguided.

There have been approaches made to Mr Martin previously with offers/enquiries that were decline out of hand without discussions about funds availability or viability as Ron's pension depends on this - to use Poker terminology - he's pot committed now and won't (perhaps can't) walk away without trying everything he can to get it over the line.

It either works - the stadium get's built and it's a quick "exit stage left" by Ron with pension in tact and regular income from new stadium (and that will be substantial income by the way) or it fails and Ron declares himself bankrupt within months.

All or nothing for Ron now but it's his future he's gambling on as far as he's concerned - not SUFC

  • The club want to move & play in a new Stadium at Fossetts Farm, which has already been bought
So where exactly is the hold-up? :nope:

Not true, large parts of FF are owned by Southend Council and the hand over of it to RM is based IIRC on the 106 agreement.

No I wouldn't.

But, do you honestly believe if the club was made available for a realistic sum, complete with planning permission. That at least one interested party wouldn't step forward!...

I guarantee you if Ron was to put the club up for sale today, we would have several buyers lined up by the weekend. Would they be any better than Ron? Who knows. But they certainly cannot be any worse.

Change required in my opinion. New money, new hope. The club has gone stale.

Better put than me. Not bad for a Ewe :winking:

Many clubs have been bought by consortiums or individuals who have the desire and ability and who have made their position very public and clear whether the incumbent owners are interested or not. I believe we have heard of one that made a derisory offer and also proclaimed it had no intention of investing monies into the club. Where does that help us?

But generally those have been bids when either the club has been put up for sale, is owned by a group of shareholders or has significant fanbase anger that would support alternative bid.

I beleive there has been at least 1 (maybe 2) approaches from fan-centric groups of people that have SUFC interests at hearts but also enquiries from private equity firms/investors who see the potential for cheap purchase and reasonable future income generatation but haven't been entertained.

Unless something significant changes (fan power, sainsbury's withdrawel or ron goes bust) then it's unlikely many/any parties will show their hands but that doesn't mean there isn't potential new owners out there - and of course that's not to say they would definately be better but at least there are little assets to strip which would deter more of the unsavoury types

I think those that are interested and there are some are sitting of the fence waiting for the collapse rather than deal with RM as it stands.

When he doesnt deliver on deadlines he states its frustrating and annoying, that doesnt mean he lied.

Hardly a promise:smile:

Its bad enough as a statement that nothing has happened yet again, and it makes Ron lose even more credibility yet again, but its not lying.

Terminology aside, really had high hopes we were making progress, but now looking like fools hope yet again. Nice one Ron.

Fancy back-tracking on this, Sir

I'am awaiting onceknownasrab's response to smiffy's findings.I feel sure rab will spin it somewhat in ron's favour or try to

I am not interested in 'spin' in favour of RM or anybody else. I do try to put balance to debates as most postings are anti-RM without proffering any concrete alternative.

The fact is SUFC is a business and has been ever since it was founded. It is not our club but the club we support. Those in power at the club are able to run it as they see fit.

Personally I prefer to hold out hope that the owner will do well for himself and also for us in the process.

People can rant and rave about the situation but they are powerless and unauthorised to do a single thing about it. Money talks louder than words. I have no problem with opinions but too many are purported to be facts.

We are all hoping for better days and I for one am still hoping those better days are coming soon. UTB

Until someone comes forward and offers a realistic sum of money (i.e. not £1) then talks of a change of ownership are pointless.

Or rather misdirected. I'd hugely applaud anyone going out and trying to drum up interest from one of these dozens of rich people queuing up to buy loss-making football clubs.

How do you know £1 is not a realistic sum of money. You buy the liabilities along with the assets. You may be over-pricing there.

Exactly.

The club has a negative asset value of about -£9m!!

The club is on borrowed time. We don't own Roots Hall we are relying on RM to build the ground to secure the clubs future and that is as far away as its ever been.
