Sadlers Farm - seriously ? This is the best it can be managed ?

I'm not sure if Sadlers itself is shut or just the stretch of road from there up to Pitsea. If it IS just the road, then at least the old A13 through Bowers Gifford is an option....not much of one admittedly, but better than nothing.

Just the road Id assume as they are bringing the bridge down.

I am making no effort to leave Southend today. A week of travelling through there is bad enough.

For those who do drive during the week I found turning off at 5 bells and using the road between 5 bells and the Pitsea tescos/Go Outdoors saved almost half an hour. Bit late to find that out but may help for the next few weeks.

Big splurge in the Echo today about how it should have been completed by the end of the last fiscal year, and deadlines are still going back. Rain has now added to complications as they can't lay water proofing to the roads!

127 was better last night, presumably a few had drifted back to the A13 to see if it was any better.

would it have been quicker to stay on the train until Benfleet?

yes,but I travel from grays and have to change trains. Even with the delay waiting for the next train, 12 minutes, the train journey from pitsea to benfleet and having to drive from benfleet station up to tarpots it would still have been quicker. This is really starting to hack me off :(

If I was on the train Id stay on till Benfleet, changes or not.

Sadlers Farm and the A127 now have to be avoided if possible.

turning off at 5 Bells and using the back road to Pitsea does save some time, but it still takes30-40 minutes from Pitsea.

Even so the Pitsea flyover roundabout is ridiculous at the moment. Completely gridlocked and traffic from 3 directions fighting to get on the A13. This is what is frustrating, with a set of temporary traffic lights there they could at least add some sense of order there. No planning or management taking place at all.

I did consider going up the old A13, but imagine thats awful too.

Dont think so no. That was to bring the bridge down and that was the last major issue.

Think the new bridge ie the eastbound Benfleet/canvey turn off is meant top open this weekend. Until they get the traffic off of the roundabout faster its still going to tailback though.

Is there going to be a repeat of last weekends closure?
Shouldn't be, am assuming the bridge was removed last weekend which is why it was closed. Not been along there this week. Total gridlock both yesterday and today from what I'm hearing on the radio. My poor other half is on nights, where it normally takes him an hour to get home, this week it's at least double that - which is all you need when you've got to be up again at 4.

What time is he coming through ??!

I can understand it being busy 4-7pm, I assume then its more than that ?

His normal time to head for home is about 7 (7.15 today), he's normally back home by 8.15 whereas this week it's been well after 9. Goes back up to London about half 6 of an evening. And he can't catch a train, it's a ******* journey by train, especially when you're knackered from a heavy night's work!

Surprised at that, would have thought going the opposite way would be easier, obviously not !

Well the end date is meant to be 31st May, whether this has changed due to the weather I dont know.

If not 4 more weeks and counting.

Thanks Kay, that's what I thought. But as you say still chaos.

Im coming down Saturday and usually come down the A13, am i better off continuing round M25 and going down 127? It will be around 11.30ish

That time of day you should be ok, I'd maybe give yourself an extra 20 mins or so to make sure though.

Probably due to bank holiday weekend, but no traffic jams at all tonight, straight through pitsea and sadlers with no stopping.

Miracle.

Yep, other half made it in to work in just over an hour which is pretty standard. I think it helped with all the local radio stations giving out that Bread and Cheese Hill was closed due to an over turned lorry so people just avoided it anyway!
