Sadlers Farm - seriously ? This is the best it can be managed ?

Indeed, its very much a building site and they have a lot of road to lay still.

They seem to have done something odd with the road when you come from the A130 to A13 via the underpass, you have to now give way to the traffic. Can see that causing problems as it was a straight through lane before.

Yeah, getting onto Canvey Way is fine now. It just happens to be that north of Sadlers looks like war torn Beirut.

Yep, tell me about it. My house is about 200 metres away from where they are working at night on this stretch of road!

Well, today's Echo confirms what has been suspected all along...

"Sadlers Farm will miss deadline for Olympics

Sadlers Farm will not be finished in time for the Olympics. Work will stop next week and not be restarted until September. County council chiefs are now reluctant to predict when the project will be finished.

The bleak news was confirmed after a source told the Echo how contractors have been ordered to remove all heavy machine plant from the site as a priority.

...A Council statement said: "Following the Olympics, contractors will need to return in September to carry out final works. These include surfacing the Sadlers Farm roundabout and strategic link carriageway where the A130 meets the Rayleigh spur roundabout, landscaping and other minor work on footways, cycleways and bridleways"."

Congratulations Essex County Council, you've blighted this corner of SE Essex for 2 years and failed totally to deliver on promises. I wonder how many of them have been inconvenienced as much as those of us who live here?

What a farce.

In any private company, if this level of incompetence happened, there'd be sackings left right and centre - heads would roll!

But the jobs-for-life numpties at ECC will keep their heads down and let it blow over.

Didnt think they would complete it, but didnt think they would just stop either lol.

How is it at Tarpots?

The road from Sadlers - Pitsea is pretty much done but the underpass is only one lane. Doesnt affect me anymore which is a relief, wonder how it will cope for the Olympics.

Am I right in that the mountain biking is only one weekend though?

Tarpots is ok as long as everything is open, but they keep closing off bits of lanes either to or from the roundabout or on the roundabout itself. Have to say the lights at Tarpots, despite my earlier scepticism, do seem to have improved things, we now get some right turn time on our own which has helped massively!

mountain biking is only one weekend, the 11th and 12th August.

In all honesty, you would be a fool not to get the train, as your ticket includes rail travel, and a shuttle bus between Leigh Station and Hadleigh park. Also, if you drive, the park and ride is in Basildon, so should cut down on the cars actually going through Sadlers, also, the fact you can't park east of Shipwrights drive makes driving pretty fruitless!

I don't understand why they have to wait until September to restart work on it, During the school holidays in my experience the roads are quieter. Why not just start work again after the Olympics are over rather than wait until the roads get busy again.Bizarre IMO.

No makes no sense to me either.

Its actually ok for me when I go through there and guess if its not causing issues then doesnt matter and at least OBL can get her beauty sleep with the windows open for now.

All very bizarre though.

The A13 to Pitsea is nice, 4 lanes instead of two, bigger than the M25 in places, shame it then goes back to two at the flyover.

You'd think so, a bit like the good folks at G4S who will still claim a £57m fee despite failing miserably in training enough staff for the games

Along with all those bankers who've had it away for years despite being totally incompetant

its rewarding to be a failure these days

Ok time to put things in perspective, this project has affected a lot of us, causing some of us massive delays and stress, and others who live there like OBL have had to put up with the noise.

However we should all just shut up and realise people have it much much worse than us.

Cant believe he has to put up with that sign. Truly awful.
Lol, I went to the meeting back in 2007, and those residents were extremely vocal. He was probably one of those who was against the whole thing anyway! Noise update, last night was the worst yet. They must be trying to get as much stuff done as possible before locking all the big, nasty, unsightly machinery away.

Though I make Cricko absolutely right, school holidays are the BEST time they could get this finished in, just let the Olympics go so no-one is offended by the mess and noise, then get on with it - it'd be done by the end of the holidays!

Or stop for 2 days when the Olyimpics is on ?

Its actually a bit dodgy at moment from the A130, you are forced into 30mph then come onto the A13 in the fast lane.

As for that guy he is obviously just a serial complainer. I lived in Oak Walk for 15 years and our house actually backed onto the A130, unlike him who would need some sort of mirror system to be able to see it. (We also lived in Sadlers for a while again backing onto the A130 and were even closer to the road there , so are A130 veterans  )

So, by having this put in the paper, all he has done is highlight to potential buyers that he is expecting his house to be sold for less!

And lowering his neigbours house prices because no one wants to live next to someone like that. God forbid you let your grass grow longer than 1.65 inches, he'll be knocking your door down demanding you cut it.

I think I'll be safe from him where I live!
