Sadlers Farm - seriously ? This is the best it can be managed ?

I tried the A13, tailback to just past 5 bells and about 40 minutes to get to the new turn off for the underpass which hardly any cars were using.

As it appears 80% of traffic is for Benfleet and Canvey doesnt look like the underpass road is going to help much. Saved me a few minutes at most.

Looks like a few weeks yet till any major improvement.

Ill probably do the A12 myself tonight and going to work from home tomorrow.

At evening rush hour, this is inevitably the case. It's people going home and heading for Benfleet, Canvey and Leigh in particular! I think it's going to be a case of road improvements not actually doing much improving! The only real benefit I can see is for traffic heading down the A130 and wanting to go on the A13 westbound. I don't really see how the A13 is going to be improved through Benfleet, even less so if mooted plans to reduce Hadleigh to single carriageway through the High Street go ahead!

A lad from work went from Gallows corner to bilericay via the A12 last night and said traffic slowed as soons as he went under the motorway. Looks like its going to be bad everywhere for a while.

Well theres three benefits for Benfleet
*Wont have to get through A130>A13 West bound traffic whilst traversing the roundabout
*Canvey traffic have their own cut through the roundabout
*A130N bound traffic will be going via the underpass.

So I think you should get to the roundabout easier, but theres still the same amount of traffic going into Benfleet so not a lot of improvements there !

Came down the A130 towards Sadlers yesterday around 4ish. The single lane through the underpass is working fine but the rest of it is all still huge mounds of mud! Sadlers itself was totally snarled up and took a good 20 minutes to get from the approach to Tarpots. There definitely seem to be traffic lights on the roundabout itself so I'm assuming that is how they think they're going to cure the problem.

Traffic starting queueing on the A127 from about Childerditch. Took a short cut, Dunton Road, took a left, through the back roads, London Road Wickford, Runwell Road, Rettendon turnpike, Rawreth Lane to the Hockley Rayleigh road. Complete waste of time took me longer than ever.

Only took an hour from Burgess Hill to M25/A127 in rush hour and then another hour to Rayleigh, getting beyond a joke now!!!!

Question: Are the sadlers farm road works the reason for the complete gridlock of rayleigh every day after 5. May well be nothing to do with it but living in Rayleigh I have noticed a huge increase in traffic recently ever since the road works began, most of the time stand still traffic. Thought it might have something to do with people trying to get home using alternative routes.

Very possible Matty. The A127 is much busier now from Dunton until Rayleigh Weir.

I would be surprised if people were trying to bypass it via Wickford/Rayleigh

Would you? I know several people actively bypassing it in the morning coming off the A130 and going along the Battlesbridge bypass and through Rayleigh.

Took a brave pill tonight and tried A12 from work (Harold Wood) to Benfleet. Total journey about 8 miles longer than usual but jouney time 55 mins compared to usual 90 down A127. Of the 55 mins, 25 mins were last mile and a bit through Sadlers so will defo try this again.

I think this weekend I will just hibernate (apart from following events at Oxford) with the A13 closure etc

Does anyone know what length of delays are expected on the A127 tomorrow?

I have to go to Bedfordshire tomorrow but no idea how much earlier I should leave.

I cant give you an accurate forecast, but my estimate is it will be totally ****ed.

With the A13 shut its the only east/west route out of essex.

You may be better going out via the A130 and up to the A12.

No I wouldnt.

Wish I hadnt typed the original wrong :)

Rayleigh will certainly be busier due to people cutting through and even worse this weekend.

I'm not sure if Sadlers itself is shut or just the stretch of road from there up to Pitsea. If it IS just the road, then at least the old A13 through Bowers Gifford is an option....not much of one admittedly, but better than nothing.
