Rio 2016 Olympics

Froome got some work to do at 24 secs back. Cancellara looking good!

Em has been watching lots and said the reason the evening swimming is on at 2am our time because the Yanks won the rights and decide the times! Not sure if the track and field will be the same! Let's hope not!

Twas ever thus. NBC pay shed loads for the Olympic TV coverage and they get to call the tune.

Pretty sure it is. I have not looked at all the times of all the track & field finals, but the Mens 100m final is on at about 2.30am our time (15th August).

Bronze for Froome in the end. Good effort.

In the judo Sally Conway beat the World & European Champion to advance to the quarters, a really great bout, have a watch if you can.

EDIT: And she's now in the semi's.

Hardly any spectators for the Mens & Womens time trials today. Now I didn't think the crowds would be anywhere near what we saw in London and the weather today was poor, but there was no one there.

At the Rio boxing venue they said how atmospheric it would be and maybe better than London 2012, well not seen anything to prove that yet.

That's how you win a gold in diving! Bet they don't get half the attention that Daley gets.

A bronze medal for Basildon boy Max Whitlock also!

Yep first individual gymnastic medal for 108 years a great effort. Some Bronze medals are harder to get than some and that is one of them.

A good day for GB despite the dissapointing cycling TT.

Trains in Basildon, but is from Hemel Hempstead.

I've got a foot in both camps so am happy either way

Tremendous achievement and nice prep for a gold in Sunday on the pommel horse I hope.

Not quite, and surprisingly the Team GB Twitter feed got this wrong too.

First medal for a British gymnast in the individual all-around event for 108 years.

Whitlock, Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle all won individual medals four years ago.

she was so unlucky in the semi - had three chances to win in normal time, but lost in extra time. delighted she got bronze.

Just remembered something from last night. After Mears and Laugher won their gold, they got changed in some side corridor (which seemed odd anyway).

One of them was rifling through his bag and could be heard to say in his thick Yorkshire accent "Where's me ****ing trousers!"

haha yeah that was brilliant.

Today's schedule for people who can multitask...

Some rowing at 14:12 (men's quadruple sculls) and 15:04 (women's double sculls)

Murray is on at 15:00 with Konta straight after

Seems like most decent stuff is this evening (canoe, rugby 7s, track cycling)

Is Daley expected to challenge for an individual medal? Might be one for the mute button. That horribly self-indulgent commentator's unwatchable(listenable?).
