I've never known a manager to be condemned to failure before he's had even half a season with his own players, especially from the usual wiser heads on here. I guess the rose tinted glasses presented by Paul Sturrock as he left fit well.

If its true .......APPALLING!!! I was always surprised he came here. A humiliation for us if he leaves but would be better to go now if true:unsure:

God people go off at rumours ,and thats all it is a rumour. as for JE ,big deal he took a club who are bankrolled by a millionaire from the Conference to league2.When RM had money to splash didnt our manager at that time (TILLY ) almost take Southend to the summit, And what happened when the money ran out.

Is this some alternate reality I missed out on?

Tilson got us promoted to the Championship without spending anything and when we did splash any cash we got relegated.

Reading through this thread...is depressing.

A totally unfounded rumour at present.
The dislike of a bloke who has yet to field a single player he signed - and for no specific reason.
Well, I think that when it does not work out..which with all the irrational disliking ..is possible.
You lot are are in some small way to blame.

Give the man a few weeks with a few of his own bloody players. For God's sake!

ps. The squad that a very decent man, Paul Sturrock, left. Is absolute garbage! But you lot don't care about that bit!

Well said Kevin - for goodness sake give PB a chance to get some players in and work with them and those remaining from last year's squad before you judge him. OK if we're bottom half by Christmas then we may have cause to complain, but the fact that he couldn't drag much out of a squad assembled by Sturrock is no real surprise, after all the bloke that brought them to the club could only muster 1 point from a possible 12 from three consecutive home games against Wimbledon, Torquay and Plymouth! That to me remains the reason we didn't make the play-offs and also cost him his job.

Now let's give his successor a chance please!

I say again a Manager and players can only be judged when they are supported properly. With the Budget size we have your not going to gauge many top notch players out of it. Main reason is the poor episodes from above which left manager and players cheesed off. As I said the other week put yourself in the managers position with that to contend with. If you were you might like to tell the fans the real truth as they would be unfairly blaming you for lack of motivation when in actual fact with the non-payying or late-paying issue rests with the Chairman. but then you'd be prevented from saying anyhting whilst ron goes to the media to get in there first to make it look like its everybody elses fault except his. again on the paying the staff issue. Not that I watch it often if you have watched Corrie St yesterday the builders on there packed up their bags and left because they were peeved and not being paid. This is what happens so have sympathy with Paul Sturrock to a point.

Perhaps they can offer the players half of Fossetts Farm in lieu of wages!

THANK THE LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my experience of supporting Southend United we have had:

Rubbish players, rubbish teams, rubbish manager's, rubbish Chairmen, rubbish owners, rubbish consortiums behind the scenes, rubbish toilet facilities, rubbish pies, rubbish beer, rubbish entertainment, rubbish programmes, rubbish kit's, rubbish pr, rubbish luck.
Through some complete rubbish - we have had bigger support than today, smaller support than today, noisier support than today and quieter support than today.

Sadly, today - we have by far the .......WORST ... supporters than I have ever, ever experienced. They appear to despise everything about the club and seek to destroy it. While wearing the shirt and colours. They slag our own players throughout the second half of a game!! They seek to completely obliterate any confidence in a manager that has never fielded one of his own players. If the Chairman does anything whatsoever ..it has to be wrong.

The Class of 2013? Woeful supporters!

To add to what I put I appreciate its not what we want to believe but to run away from this is running away from the most key of reasons. You can't turn a blind eye to it.

Agreed. If, IF this is true, the guy who has hardly endeared himself to the club's fans should be moved on as soon as possible. I hear there's a pretty decent Scottish bloke who wears a kilt who is available :whistling:

Anyone but PS or Phil Brown (if he has applied somewhere else) will do me fine.

I wouldn't say that at all. Fans do support the side but when they see how the Club is run , thus making it more difficult than necessary to achieve promotion, is it little wonder enthusiasm is sapped.?

But it has been run poorly since the 1970's. Only now are the supporters not supporters but destructive beyond rational! Honestly. The supporters need to take a long look at how they support.

If PB has not (and so far not a shred of evidence) applied to Sheff Utd. Why make it up? Because it is likely somebody has made it up. Politics.

Destructive support from so many!

One of the reasons why we played so poorly at home was the "support" provided by some of our "fans". We were a different side away from home securing 35 points whilst only gaining 26 points at home.

A true reflection of how some of the fans feel about the club perhaps?

It's not great, but that is how it is at present.

There is a lot of apathy, disillusionment and general bad feeling around the place. It is a poisonous atmosphere and big changes need to be made, before it gets even worse.

maybe phil brown hasfound out no players actually want to sign for us, and rm only wants loan players, so he doesnt want a squad of a few

Becaiuse Kevin the politics is now more in the public domain than ever through things like twitter etc. People know more than they did years and years ago. The Brown thing didn't come from me although I think you weren't saying that I did.

We have been in much worse situations before. Never has our support been so destructive and small minded.

Smiffy. A question. If you read the title of this thread...and then discover there i not a shred of evidence to support it's creation.
How do you feel about the people that support our club and run this forum? Be honest.

The thread was started by the guy at the top of this site. If there is no evidence to support this thread. He cannot possibly be trusted to continue with SZ. Is as simple as that.
To make this thread public..he HAS to be 100% accurate.
Surely you must see this?

My worry is Brown will have his expectations set too high on players he wants to bring in. This is a new situation for Brown, whereas it was Sturrock's bread and butter.

I would agree with that. Hence why I posted the three players that were released until I knew for sure. As for who started this thread, ask him??
