We have been in much worse situations before. Never has our support been so destructive and small minded.

Smiffy. A question. If you read the title of this thread...and then discover there i not a shred of evidence to support it's creation.
How do you feel about the people that support our club and run this forum? Be honest.

We may have been in worse situations. But I think the constant bad news and poor PR from the club has taken its toll now. Its eaten away at many for the past few years and perhaps they have had enough of it now.

With regards to this thread. I am sure the owners would not of created it, if they were not overwhelmingly certain it was true. The problem with this forum is you are criticised for not sharing insider knowledge and also criticised for sharing insider knowledge. You cannot win.

Over to you then McNasty.
I think that you have started a thread on which your credibility now rests.

If it is not accurate? Your move??

Smiffy. This thread (correct or not) is political. In politics you MUST prove your point - or go.

We were in the mid-80's about 45 minutes from closing. It was way, way more desperate and the trust in the directors was very low.
The supporters chose to support and help.

The supporters club motto? "To HELP and not to HINDER".

A true reflection of how some of the fans feel about the club perhaps?

It's not great, but that is how it is at present.

There is a lot of apathy, disillusionment and general bad feeling around the place. It is a poisonous atmosphere and big changes need to be made, before it gets even worse.
The poisonous atmosphere certainly doesn't lie with the club. I understand fans might not like Brown, but the hatred from some is quite ludicrous.

If we can see the poisonous atmosphere must change, then surely we must also acknowledge where that's coming from, and therefore, who needs to change.

Kevin I go back to things being more in the public domain. Back then it could have been perceived as one of those things. Now we know of underhand things that go on from the top. And because of this there is a lack of sympathy towards those upstairs.

The thread was started by the guy at the top of this site. If there is no evidence to support this thread. He cannot possibly be trusted to continue with SZ. Is as simple as that.
To make this thread public..he HAS to be 100% accurate.
Surely you must see this?

His post WAS accurate. He said there is/was a rumour. That is patently true.

It as stated is a rumour. FWIW I happen to believe it is true..but that is my choice.

"The concept of empirical proof is subjective just like anything else -- it all comes down to degrees of belief".

The problem with that is you cant make a judgement on anything if you need rock hard evidence of everything.

We had the same backlash when news about finances/embargos have been leaked, yet we never had evidence at the time, but they were true.

Just because there isnt proof on any given subject doesnt mean it shouldnt be considered and discussed.

How do you feel about the people that support our club and run this forum? Be honest.

My honest view is that if there are bad things going on people will react to them. Rather than blame people for being negative towards them why not question why bad things happen and not denying anything else is possibly going on.

There are people who are very negative about everything, but there are also people concerned when things do happen. If there is any truth in this, and theres been comments from a few people to suggest there may be then it warrants discussion.

It wouldn't surprise me if this was true. Let's be honest with ourselves here, he obviously wants to return to manage in the Premiership/championship as soon as possible and will see us as a stepping stone to that. He will think that if he has a successful season here, then he can be in with a shout for a better job.

With the rate that managers are sacked now-a-days, if he starts the season very well with us near the top of the league, then he could possible get a job before the turn of the year!

Do I want him to leave? Difficult to answer really as I wasn't thrilled when he arrived but I'm not so against him that I would chase him out of town with a pitchfork. I want this club to have stability, on and off the pitch, but sadly I doubt this will happen until the new stadium comes (if it ever does with all 4 sides!).

If he does decide to jump ship ASAP, I would like Coughlan to be given the chance as he showed loyalty when he was linked with other manager positions and has potential.

absolutely this.

WE are mid-table League 2. We are in financial difficulties.

That is how football is.

I have no doubt that there is much to disagree with in the boardroom at the moment and possibly always.

Is there anybody on here that has an argument giving a more hopeful lifeline than FF? If so I would love to hear it.

Unless you have a credible alternative. Please stop trying to destroy the only chance there appears to be of Southend United surviving.

Stepping stone is fine, to be one it would mean he has to be relatively successful here. Id rather a long term manager but if he can improve our standing whilst here thats fine.

If he is just treading water till he gets something else before achieving anything here then thats an issue.

I dont see why the assistant who was here this season of medicority, who wont have anywhere near the contacts of his old boss, would fare any better.

Rubbish. 99% of people who have heard the rumour - heard it here!

You may disagree with my comments but please don't call them rubbish because they differ from your viewpoint. I had heard the rumour befoire I saw it on Shrimperzone and I know others who did also. I personally don't believe it to be true but I wouldn't be bothered if it were; it is difficult to envisage how anyone could have made a worse start to the job.

With someone else's players who were probably loyal to Sturrock? Totally unfair to castigate PB without giving him a chance of at least 1/2 a season.

Do you have proof of that?

There is no evidence to support your claim.

You cannot possibly be trusted to post under the username Kevin Hogg without this evidence.
