You are precisely right, which is just why we aren't fit to make the kind of rash and irrational comments which have been made in this discussion. No one here is qualified enough or has the solution.

I think from the outside, we see all this happening and want it sorted. We vent our frustrations on here and it all gets out of control.

You see Abu Hamza and the like preaching hate and they are just allowed to do it. It has to be incitement yet the PC laws in this land let them do what they want. It's scary really.

OF course the wars and foreign policy create most of this, but lets say we do withdraw.

Do you honestly think that British extremists will suddenly turn into moderate muslims and forgive everything?

They are extremists, they want to strike out, they hate our culture and the way we live, and even if we had no troops there they still would. Start locking them up without charge and all you will do is add more fuel to the fire.

The sad thing to all of this is there is no realist answer. Anyone thinking that sending them all "back" or to prison without charges will stop any future attacks has a rather simplified view of the world.

We should of course still stamp on the hatred more than we do, but it wont stop it.

I think the security forces prefer to have him where they can see him and to whom he is preaching to, because if they did lock him away his place would be taken by someone they may have no knowledge of.

Personally i think we should torture them to within an inch of their lives then bring them back to health then repeat the process until they spew everything and everyone they know and then begin the torturing again until they beg to die and then when they do beg, lock them up for life in a 24hr lockdown cell.

Have to agree, why when there are plenty of Muslim leaders to discuss it do they want to give him airtime. Beggars belief.

I just watched Sky news interview two separate Muslim leaders, both of which said he should be in prison and we need to do something about it to make it happen.

The problem is no one has a solution.

No one is going to just turn the other cheek, but you also cant just throw every muslim in prison either.

People want a nice easy answer like being able to defeat Germany in World War II. Go to war, win it and they surrender. This 'enemy' isnt like that, they wont fight armies, they live amongst us and the longer it goes on and the harder we are the more people they will convert to fight against the oppressive west.

Just being tougher isnt an answer, the US got tough in Iraq and Afghanistan and its because of that these guys did what they did. Comments throughout this thread saying people should just be imprisoned for life without any charges would do nothing but increase the poblem.

What I would certainly like to see is an end to the protest rallies and demonstrations and investigations into any Mosques or classes that promote hatred. Id like to see these clerics either imprisoned or deported.

Thats the kind of tougher that can happen, but it will still not prevent these attacks because there will always be muslims who hate the west and like these scumbags need nothing more than a car and some knives to create a national incident.

I read with interest from certain quarters we should pull our troops out as it is not our war,thankfully we didnot follow that rule in 1939, terrorism is a war under any name,and though we cannot understand or even get close to why they do this,thankfully we are brave enough to stand up to it, and alas those who join the armed forces know what canbe expected whether its right or wrong when they join up
