The inner glass screen in my less than one year old oven has just exploded.

The real downer was that it rendered the breakfast products I was grilling inedible and I ended up with just mushrooms and fried eggs.

Deadly leave them ,use First Utility

After the phone call with them I've just had I'm leaving. It's been painful ever since I moved into this house. I was with them for my two previous houses and had no issues but they've been absolute ***** with me for this move.

If they offer you smart meters DO NOT get them!

My Tag chronograph! Just stopped working. As it's quartz I reckoned it was the battery. My friendly jeweller tried a new one and unit was still dead. Quote from Tag to repair and service? £390 ffs.

Better than seeing yourself on the list and having no votes!

I read this and I was deeply touched at such a sad story Ricey. Nobody should get no votes (with the exception of Jam Man and Cricko obviously). You've got my vote now.

My Tag chronograph! Just stopped working. As it's quartz I reckoned it was the battery. My friendly jeweller tried a new one and unit was still dead. Quote from Tag to repair and service? £390 ffs.

I wear an ebel which was an engagement present from my wife. I made the mistake of getting the battery changed at a local jewellers last time. When I got it back I didn't wear it for some time, but when I eventually did I found the crown didn't turn smoothly.

I took it to a different jewellers who sent it to ebel to have a look at. It turns out that the crown in the watch wasn't the right one for the model. There's no way that would have happened in the manufacturing process, especially as it was fine before the battery change.

Since the crown goes right into the middle of the mechanism, to take out the crown and replace it with the correct one meant taking the entire watch apart. The quote for the job? £700, which included a £200 service. I asked what the service included. The reply was taking the watch apart and cleaning it. I then pointed out that they were doing that as part of the repair! In the end they agreed to not charge for the service. I still had to pay £500 for the repair. That taught me a valuable lesson. Get it done properly.

As an aside, there is now another problem with the watch, which I'm sure is a hangover from the original repair, but I can't prove it. The watch is a chronograph and the stopwatch hour hand does't turn, until I actually stop the stopwatch, at which time, if the stopwatch has been going for over an hour, it just moves randomly! I then have to manually wind it back into place. The reason I can't be sure it was caused during the original repair is because I didn't use the stopwatch for an hour for years after the repair! I've decided not to get it repaired until it needs a new battery. But I will ensure I take it to the right people regardless of cost...
