What is hacking you off today?

Wifes clio failed the MOT on a offside front upper anti-roll bar linkage ball joint dust cover.

The shysters at Halfords were going to charge £77 to change the part. She rang me to see what she should do and I told her to tell them to stuff it. Ordered the part from GSF car parts (£13) and will then proceed to take the wheel off and change the part (which is held on by just 2 bolts)

Its going to take me longer to drive to Thurrock to and back pick the part up than it will be to change the part.

Halfords .. no, but there is labour..?
There are quite a few local garages that are excellent round here.. also by the time you have driven there n back and done the job then got it retested surely that will all cost more than the 77 quid and getting it signed off there n then ?

Station Garage at Rayleigh Station is excellent for MOT's and any work that needs doing, really honest. My hubby is super critical of all garages (and everything else !) but always happy with their price and work. I rarely recommend anyone but no hesitation with these guys.

I'll hold my hands up. It didn't take 15 minutes. Took closer to 30 minutes and that was because the top bolt had seized onto the thread. Nothing a pair mole grips, a socket ratchet and brute force couldn't fix.

Putting the new one on was a breeze. Will find out tomorrow for the retest if I dud the correct side.

Nearside is the drivers side isn't it 🤔
