Although obviously Pedder is as such a 'trialist' by definition I don't for one minute think his abilities or the player himself is an unknown entity to Kev and Co. We know Gubbins had continued to be watched at QPR and no doubt Pedder was highlighted too as a possible target if he became available. It could be more of a case if the player wants to be here rather than us deciding we want him.
I guess they're just seeing now if he is ready for first team football, he's hardly played any so will be a big step up from Premier League 2 football. I guess that's why he hasn't been drafted in quicker as they have a few doubts over him.

Just looked now, he's played four senior football matches (Played 1 min in both the FA Cup and EFL Trophy too) in his career at the age of 22... might be a little concerning.

Pedder is a far more unknown quantity than Gubbins.

We had Gubbins three months and then he had a year at Accrington where he played in 42 games.

We know Gubbins is up to the rigours of senior football.

We donā€™t know that about Pedder who has played only 4 games of senior football.

Itā€™s unusual for a player to be 22 and have played that little senior football. Iā€™d have expected some loan spells at clubs like Great Wakering, Bishopā€™s Stortford and Aveley along the way. That suggests heā€™s either very frail or has an extensive injury record.

How he copes with the physicality of menā€™s football is the big question mark. Itā€™s one thing doing it in a cameo sub appearance in a friendly and another thing being able to go twice a week at full intensity week in, week out in the NL.

He profiles for now more as a developmental prospect but Iā€™d like us to roll the dice on a few upside prospects as we build up our depth.

Iā€™d like us to sign Otseh-Taiwo and Pedder but the former seems a bit more unlikely now with only Pedder going to Ireland.

I would imagine the three amigos have other irons in the fire though and maybe Otseh-Taiwo was second choice if we failed to land our first. So who knows, maybe a new signing on the horizon?
ZOT is potential gem but has been unlucky. He was training with the Soton first team back when they were in the Prem, and has been in their academy from an early age. When it was clear Soton were going to be relegated they told their U23s their contracts wouldn't be renewed. It's rumoured he had trials with some Championship clubs prior to he's release but then he did his ACL. Spent last season recovering and now just needs game time. At 22 he has some value.

And let's not forget we may need cover for Gus at some point during the season.

Or are there plans in place for that? Surely another season is one to far for Demi? [shoulder shrug]

Welcome to the board @B5G and thank you for your first post here.

You seem to know quite a lot about ZOT's career - do you need to declare an interest?

Iā€™m not even sure Iā€™d have Josh Anifowose on here anymore unfortunately.

However, there is a name of a lad who had an excellent season last season, and is tearing up his teams pre-season this time around. Has scored 7 goals, and isnā€™t a striker. A name that excites us, but things arenā€™t far advanced with him.

Harvey Sayer is not very big but was another very decent youngster we released a couple of years ago, he is a right back/ winger and seems to have discovered his scoring boots last season and in pre season. He was at Norwich as a youth for 5 years and then spent 6 and and a half years with us but hardly got a look in playing only 5 1st team games. He played a lot of loan games especially at Maldon but obviously didnā€™t show enough ability for us to keep him.

A left footed right-back is rare.

Whatā€™s he like defensively?
