Needs must, is how you inadvertently get yourself in that problem once again.
Better tell Kev, John Still and Tom Lawrence to magic the profile of player that they want out of thin air to increase the amount of bodies, then.

Squads are settled, and there is nobody immediately available and within budget that the Football Department like or feel could improve us, except maybe for a free agent or two here and there. It really is that simple, and I think we all need to just get used to it at the moment.

We can attract talent, and have paid the odd modest fee when appropriate in the recent past, but the market is stagnant now and won't come alive again until this season's top performers at the level below begin to replenish the talent well.

Until then, we just need to get behind Kev and the team as they try to make the most out of what they have.

Then any signings should be only 1 year deals to see us through to the end of the season from the free agent that may be in the twilight of their footballing years but could potentially still do a job at this level

Would be interesting to know how many possible signings we have said no to as they didn't fit the 'we must be one big happy family' part of the check.

We lost JD who was experienced, helped give advice to our younger defenders and provided versatility able to cover a number of positions. Callum Butcher sounds a lot like someone who could fill that role. May not play every week but may help guide our other defenders to tighten up and cut out the silly mistakes.

No idea if it is happening but surprised at negativity from some. I'm sure some of the other signings will do fine once they're more settled, and we should try not to write players off after a couple of bad games. None of our squad are bad players, but they are sometimes inconsistent. Which is why they're playing in the NL.

In isolation Butcher might be a good signing but having just signed Moncur and Bonne we aren’t lacking experience but instead match fit players, youthful exuberance and pace.

Nathan Asiimwe a 19 year old defender from Charlton has signed on loan for Hartlepool. 18 first team games under his belt in L1/cup competitions.

A young player with a lot of potential. He is a RB/RWB so wouldn’t have been someone we’d have considered but it just shows that there is quality out there to bring in, we’ve just got to find it.

Very true. It must be very galling for our football department though when they put in all the hard yards each year and thanks to Ron the first, second, third, fourth and fifth choices in each position all end up elsewhere because we are prevented from concluding a deal.

I don’t know about them but I’m definitely looking forward to our business next Summer without Ron’s dead hand on the tiller.

The new regime are of course new to their roles in the transfer process too, but I’m sure they are learning the ropes quickly and we’ll benefit in due course.

I'm hoping that we might have a good January window, if we are still looking to bring players in by then.
At least we should have new targets, who will presumably be within budget and obtainable that we could realistically make moves for with COSU now in charge of the purse strings.

Yeovil have signed 20 year old Ciaran McGuckin on loan from Rotherham a 6 ft striker, N. Ireland U21 capped with 2 goals in 6 appearances at that level. Has made 3 appearances from Rotherham and spent time on loan at Scarborough, 2 years ago scoring 6 in 24. Will be interesting to see what game time and how he does at this level.
