Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook 👨‍🍳

Transfer news
Well we have the option of Ralph, Gubbins, Crowther & Taylor at the moment. If we stick with the same line up as the last two, Ralph could drop in if there was an injury with Bridge returning to LWB, so in the interim we are well covered.

Getting a “project” will allow them time to adjust to the step up, get them up to speed, and settled in without expecting instant results.

Plus, if we want a centre back to start over those other four, he will be on a decent whack. We don’t need to throw that at a 5th CB.
This is the model isn’t it? Kensdale moved on and by then crowther is ready. Bring in another for when someone else moves

Absolutely this. And it’s an excellent model too, kind of in the same vein as Brighton. I’ve always thought this is the best way to do it, recruiting almost from the bottom up, rather than trying to sign first team ready players all the time which can get very expensive, very quickly. Not having to go straight into the market to replace a player and promoting from within instead is definitely a huge advantage.

We have cooled interest in Effiong. I've heard that from several different places now.

I don't know why as yet, but perhaps it's because the one we're now close to bringing in is a better/more exciting option?
End of the international break would be a good time to switch targets.
