Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

Transfer news
No doubting Ralph, who is excellent but a wing back. If he or GSM get injured what other wide options do we have?

You compete at the top with a squad full of options, not just a good starting 11.
Well Wind on the right and Bridge on the left. However after the way Jack played Tuesday, would rather see us sign a centre back who is able to play left wing back as well. Leaving Jack free to play where he did in the last game. Having Moncur nearing full fitness has already paid dividends for Jack and Noor.

2 are injured, 1 due back soon (apparently) and the other a month away (apparently)

1 is lacking match fitness and will take a month or so to get up to speed

1 is young and very inexperienced and cannot be relied upon (yet) to play week/week out and score regularly

Iā€™d say we definitely need a striker, even if only for a month or 2
We have 2 injured currently- down the line after they are back we will probably still have 2 injured (even if a different 2). Footballers getting injured is business as usual- not some temporary turn of cruel misfortuneā€¦hence as has been said the need for cover.

The new subs rule means if you have 2 up top many clubs will routinely bring 2 replacements on for fresh legs (with 5 subs you can afford to) or for tactical changes or knocks. So potentially 4 forwards a game and rotation of starters dependent on fixture congestion. If you have 5 forwards there is a very decent chance you will have 1 at least who is injured sometimes as now 2.

The one caveat would be Bridge or Wood could cover behind a single striker. On the other Effiong would bring something different.
Kev knows best.

Or not it may now seem..

All be it Jack played there because we had one up top- I think Kev will nearly always play 2 up top and then itā€™s a question can Jack play that role in behind with just two other CM? Lots of choices developing

Saw Solihull, York, Barnet and one of the other favourites to go up this season have a squad of 27+ players
