Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

Transfer news
You say that but ignoring the team names I don't think we have been able to compete with any team with financial backing willing to drop Ā£100k+ on a player for 10-15 years.
Not so long when we were still in League One we spent a lot on player's wages. Trouble was when the players got paid (granted not always) no one else (ie taxman etc) did.

Interesting fact: if Effiong signs for us, the list of clubs in England that he 'hasn't' played for will be shorter than the list of clubs he 'has' played for.*

*I may have made this up.

I put this on X on Thursday

ā€˜There are actually so many free agents that are worth looking at, even on a short term deal;

Macauley Bonne
Mo Eisa
Maxime Biamou
Aramide Oteh
Fejiri Okenabirhie
Saikou Janneh

All of which would be class signings for our levelā€™

Yeah class. Unattached in the 2nd week of September with no pre season behind them.

You might need a thesaurus.

At the moment they are getting no wages so a short term deal to January on lower wages to put yourself in the shop window could be appealing to someone.
It's a nice idea ... But these players will also need to be local and be able to facilitate their life style

For example, they may have money in the bank and could afford to hold out for a decent offer and instead of risking injury on Ā£500 pw, would rather spend their time getting fit and being with their kids
