Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/25 - Time to Cook šŸ‘Øā€šŸ³

Transfer news
Suspect most of those are out of our range.

Hakeeb Adelakun and Marcus Browne would be great additions.

Dwight Gayle for a bit of experience up top?
Adelakun got 9 goals in 19 games for Donny. Must be worthy of a league 2 side. He must have an injury if he's not been signed up.

It's his kind of pace that we lack though. We have zero pace to bring off the bench. Every side has to have that as an option off of the bench.

Would love to see Ravel Morrison here. Would definitely get fans off their seats but no chance of that happening. Dwight Gayle, Todd Kane and Michael Hector would all be class too. I think Col U wanted Hector.

Wouldnā€™t mind hector for a bit more experience / leadership to our defence and Dwight Gayle too .. short term deal

But like always depends on the wage demands which I canā€™t see us reach agreement with any from that list imo..

Surely the implied implication is that any potential new arrival currently with an EFL club wouldn't come in until after Friday and the closure of window as upto 1100pm on the day EFL clubs can still do business with each other? Hopefully we can do something to bolster the squad before Saturday but more patience may let be required šŸ«£

Blimey Ravel Morrision, really was thought of as an exceptional talent as a yoof. How a career can go seriously off the rails.
Highly rated by Fergie back in 2012 "A brilliant footballer. Brilliant ability. Top class ability. Needs to get away from Manchester and start a new life".
Allardyce who Fergie sold him to said "the biggest waste of talent he had worked with"

his disability and getting in with the wrong crowd.

Why do we need another LWB? Bridge as an attaching one with Ralph as a more defensive back up will do.
Thatā€™s fine if neither of them get injured/suspended/needs a rest.

What happens when weā€™re trailing and the opposition full-back kicks Bridge off the park?

What do we do if we want to play 4-2-3-1 and one of them is unavailable?

What happens if both get injured? At RWB we could put Taylor or Wood there at a pinch. Whatā€™s the alternative on the left hand-side - Miley? Gubbins? Has Wind ever played there before?

This isnā€™t that far fetched a scenario when weā€™re already down to our third choice partner for Cardwell but we have options we can muddle through up front. I donā€™t see any equivalent down the left hand side other than Gubbins at LCB and Iā€™m not having him at LWB. Last season we had Demi who could at least fill this position at a push.

Iā€™d therefore be looking for an attacking left sided player with the versatility to play LWB and left side of a front three or left side of midfield. That would allow the manager more tactical flexibility from the bench and more attacking options from the bench. A left sided attacker is one of two roles where we currently have no back-ups in the squad (the other gap is no back-up for Cardwell up front).

Because as some have already mentioned we are likely to be at the top end of our wage budget due to the amount of players that extended their contracts with a pay rise as a thankyou etc, so not that much money in the kitty, this might be why getting the players in are taking time as we want the right one. In an ideal world we would have at least 2 players for every position or the luxury of 3. However we needed 1 more striker before the season kicked off and with Waldron and Walker both injured highlights we actually need 2. I think we also need another attacking CM and after seeing Moncur in action just highlights what a forward thinking CM brings to the party and how much we will miss that if he's suspended injured or subbed off etc, or if we are going for the jugular to bring on from the bench and play with Moncur.

I get what you are saying but I just think the wage can be put to better use else where. We can always go down the route of loaning a player where the parent club pay most if not all the players wage, however understandably in that situation I would expect the parent club to have guarantees in place of minutes on the pitch and as we know Maher will not allow it
