Yep. Our defenders are scary in all the wrong ways. We've replaced permanent signings like Hobson, Lopata and Kensdale with Crowther and Gubbins. NLS players.
Taylor is an acceptable replacement for Hobbo. For sure. Ralph at LWB was the status who. Big issue in the centre. Needs a good experience replacement with the right attributes. Failure to address this is a recruitment issue.

Just in case any COSU members look at this site.

When I lived in Benfleet I was a season ticket holder. Over the years I have moved further and further away from Southend and now live on the Suffolk coast approximately 2 plus hours drive from Rootshall. Work and other commitments meant it was not worth having a season ticket. However, now I draw my state pension I thought 'great, we have new owners and it will all be wonderful. I shall but a season ticket as I have more time to attend'. After leaving home for 9 hours yesterday, sitting in a run down stadium freezing my nuts off in the west stand watching that absolute s hite performance I am now firmly in the Maher out camp and am seriously thinking of not renewing for next season. I can find much more enjoyable things to do on a Saturday.

Now the controversial bit. !!!!!!

I spoke to Justin a while back in the Boar and asked about COSU putting more money in the club. He got a bit uppity and gave a long speech on how much money was already put in the club. At that time I think it was 4 ish million. 'I do not have a hundred million' was one statement. Well, from what I am lead to believe, the members of COSU have a fair few million between them. Surely, if you buy a football club you would expect to spend a few bob in the initial period. My view is that between COSU they could fund the club more initially. I do not know this for sure but 4 to say 6 million in my view is not a lot from 10/11 millionaires. I am feeling that the thought of buying a run down club ruled the heart here. 'make it self sufficient' I hear. Well I am sorry but that does not wash with me. It feels as if COSU have their little plaything and want to own it on the cheap. 'Ooooh I own a football club' Regarding the East stand development I was given the impression that the funding for this would be borrowed.

Thank you so much for saving our club COSU. However, I do think you need to reconsider your plan going forward. Partially upgrade burgers usable toilets and a bright new advertising board wont get us promoted or sustainable.

I probably have not got my point across as I would like to and am inviting a load of vitriol. SO. Bring it on
The East Stand will be redeveloped with the £20m from Ron

There just might be a link between the quality and style of football achievable and the players you have available. And that feeds into tactics. Anyhow if we are dividing responsibility I don’t see COSU getting much flack for the recruitment situation that I think we can at least all agree isn’t helping?
I think the general wider sharing of ambition and intent l, or lack thereof, is definitely an issue. So yes agree with you mate.

Also get you on the comments too but disagree. To use an example in our own history. Blues under Steve thompson for example when he took over mid season from peter Taylor (who was a 532 fan) used the same players, changed the tactics and got a better time out of them with the addition of Tony battersby as a proper number 9 on loan. Turned around an awful season by changing to 433.

We aren't getting £20m because the plans had to change with the council. Justin said it was more £8-£10m. That won't come for a long time since no building has even started yet. When you also consider we are relying on Ron to sort the build, I'm not entirely confident we'll even see that money. The money, if it actually materialises, will be paid in installments anyway based on progression of phases being built at FF, it's not a lump sum.

Apparently we are in final negotiations with a Data Analyst..
Thank goodness for that as heading towards nearly 3 deals a day having been concluded in January so far

Apparently loans are difficult as you have to sit back and wait to be contacted by the loaner club, although 26 have been completed in two and a half weeks.
So either nobody likes us or we are not daring, Courageous spirited or enterprising in this market?
Also Another 10 loan spells have been extended by clubs
Plus 7 permanent singings have also been made in that timeframe ( 3 for fees and 4 free transfers)
Dont worry though perhaps proper DD wasnt done on that lot and all 43 will show no quality

I am confused as to why we are so slow or seemingly undetermined to really get more adventurous in the loan market 26 new transfers in as loans tends to support that proposition?

Any 'proper' transfer rumours ? Cheesed off with off-topic rubbish on this thread
Look, we are working on it, but it’s difficult. It has to be the right player and the right temperament. Things take time and January is not always the easiest month to get players in. We are constantly working but nothing is close yet

In my opinion we have enough good players to do ok this season and no need to panic buy in January. All we need is someone to play the correct 11 in the correct position with the right tactics and the brain to use the subs correctly. Then have a look at the end of the season when hopefully the new owners have sorted out their finances with the training ground finished and renovations at Roots Hall done or factored in knowing what is left for players.

Regan Booty seems to want out at Gateshead. I’m guessing he has his eyes on the football league, but you never know.

Just been talking about yesterday and the ongoing debate around transfers. Is there a thought that Cosu might be reluctant to throw money at the team at the moment when clearly Kev isn’t using the squad he has. Wind, Morton, Keenan even Waldron aren’t being given a chance yet players in their position are under performing. I don’t believe that this current group individually are anywhere near as bad as we are seeing at times. But we are not being set up to get the best out of these. But if Kev and co are going to persist with this style then try different players give others a chance

On form
Miley
Bridge
Gus
Husin

To name 4 don’t deserve their places. But we are now 19th Jan and no new signings. Something doesn’t feel right. Are Cosu waiting for some reason? Next week will be very telling, 1300 in that stand behind the goal and tunnel end. We play badly and lose it will not be a very pleasant walk back to the changing room

We need to rebuild the squad now but if we are planning to leave it to the summer to bring 10 plus signings then next season will be affected as well. It is unlikely that you can bed in a new squad in the summer and expect everyone to be up and running by the first game. It will take time. Something just does not feel right at the moment as there are so many good players out there and we seem unable to do anything.
I tend to think the same way, but it worked for Barnet and York.

I miss the days of people going through Stan Collymore’s list of people he followed on Twitter to claim we were interested in them.

Can we not do that with someone else at the Club? Are any of the consortium on Twitter?
Shivaas is 😬
