Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Think the consortium have written off this season and are just content to plod along.
It’s keeping their squad budget low. I keep hearing our budget is in the top half of teams. If so why aren’t we investing in the squad when we are so short in many positions ?
Surprisingly we are not without a playoff place chance.
Perhaps with a bit more ambition, who knows. I certainly don’t believe for a single moment be have spent our player budget this season.

We were assured by self styled in the knows and mouthpieces for COSU and Maher to believe that something would happen in January, only for the message to mysteriously change to the summer once January neared. In future, hopefully less notice wil be taken of such posts. Even if something does occur now, most other clubs have got in first as a quick visit to the NL news site underlines.

And this is why a lot of ITK info is now only shared via direct/private/text messages, due to wholly unfair & unwarranted sneering.

Surely with Moncur and Pepple leaving there should be budget even to cover a cheap loan player until end of season. They wouldn't of originally budgeted for them to be heading back when they signed them I would of thought.

As Maher has said before, he'd never buy/sign a player with the view that they're a squad player. He said all his signings need to strengthen the team.

I’m perplexed by those who support the quest for sustainability, and not spending therefore on the team, and in the short term not competing with a number of the promotion hunting teams who are throwing money around, and yet at the same time don’t cut the same slack to Kev who then has to continue to perform with one hand tied behind his back. Despite it all we are 3 points off Halifax in 8th.

There were some who suggested the plan would be hold fire until Jan and then invest if the playoffs were achievable- which they are?

In the longer term it’s possible to build a team in a more sustainable fashion that can compete “on the cheap” (relatively). But it will take time - over a fruit drink summer for sure.

Meanwhile it’s like the Guinness advert- with us hoping good things really will come to those that wait…

When did he say that? I believe he's signed several players originally as seen as potential to develop rather than improving the first 11. Jack Wood wasn't signed with that in mind...

Btw I was refering to a cheap loan player as a prem/champ youngster who could still improve our first 11 not be a squad player. Ie another Bim.

Or look at it the other way. If we can become sustainable in this league, we'll be in a very good position when we get promoted given the increase in revenue from being in the EFL.
Its a tough one isnt it

Its been reported the average salary currently in league 2 is £2000 per week !

I think you get around £1m handed out by EFL/Prem for being in league 2, presumably not including tv deals etc?

Players can be sign with view to development, but in terms of the more 'established' players or young players from the Premier or Championship on loan aren't going to signed to just sit on the bench. Would be a waste of budget,

I'd rather wait two weeks extra to sign a quality player then jump the gun and sign someone who isn't going to make the team significantly better and waste budget.

People would have peanuts, Moncur is now on loan at Ebbsfleet who are now picking some of his wages. I’m tempted to think if Ebbsfleet can afford it might not have been breaking our bank either? So not convinced this frees up a lot- but who knows..

3 points to 8th.
Only if all above us loose.

Boston have managed to get a striker in (Jimmy Knowles) before they play us. Played 21 games this season for Accrington with 2 goals. 19 goals last season in national league north. Only 23. We missed out there

Things were different then .

Maybe Jordon Ragguette according to Mr P Joseph Popes blogs ? Apols if this previously posted, I couldn't find that it had under search and takes far too long to troll through 65 pages to check. On his web site he is recommending one player e he thinks each of the 24 Nat League sides should go for in this second half of the season

"One position in which The Blues were always strong, and yet this year do look a little flat, is left wing-back. That is one area which I think they need to try to add, with Jack Bridge’s form having gone off and Nathan Ralph not really the profile – I feel – to be used as a flying wing-back and so the player that I’d be trying to sign is Jordan Raguette.

Raguette has adjusted to the sixth tier this term after signing for Salisbury and while as a collective they may not have always found their top form, Raguette is a player who has very much been operating at a level above so far as one of the standout – if not the best – left-sided defenders in the sixth tier. A player that is a full-back by trade, but operates very much as a winger with the ball, he is an attack-minded, athletic, lung-busting outlet down the flank that gets up in support of the attack at every opportunity.

One thing that I want to see from Southend United in the second-half of the campaign is an injection of speed, as at times I’ve felt that it is too one-paced, and adding a player of Jordan Raguette’s profile is perfect. He more readily wants to – and is able to – hit the byline with his energy and athleticism, will back himself to progress the ball with dribbling past the opposition, and isn’t adverse to swinging the ball in first-time rather than the touch-heavy work of someone like Jack Bridge. Raguette is more direct, plays at speed, is incisive and contributes positively in the attacking third.

For Salisbury this term, Raguette has been so good from the left-back spot that he has shouldered the burden of creativity and end product in front of goal with six goal involvements; his five goals is the most of any full-back in the division. Blues fans have talked about how why"
