Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Watching millwall v dag&red in the FA cup. Two interesting observations.
1. How well Ryon Leonard's playing for millwall. Sounds like he's been appearing fairly regularly and still covers the whole pitch.
2. Looks like either Justhams started going to the Tommy Tonks diet club or he's really overdone it at xmas. Last time I watched him at roots hall he was in good shape and quite slim, wasn't that long ago! Now he's seems to be strugg!ing and makes moncur look svelt.
His agility and balance for their conceded goal looked awful. He couldn't get up off his axse. So pleased he didn't somehow end up at southend.

Just saw Junior Morais warming up at HT. Another we were interested in a few years back. He looks like he’s enjoyed Christmas too.

Was just about to post exactly the same opinion.

Forget Justham, makes Neville Southall look slim and agile.

Would love to see Lenny back at Roots Hall, his passing is sublime and is still able to get up and down the flanks.

Also what a crap atmosphere, seems to be a low crowd.

Can't wait to play Daggers, think we will still beat them with our squad of 13 players.

Just said similar to Ben, certainly didn’t cover himself in glory for the goal.

I think what’s important is when COSU does seriously start to invest in the playing squad (something that hasn’t been done yet!) that it’s very important we get the right players in. Not necessarily players who will just get us out of the NL (not an easy task!) but players who will be able to thrive in L2 too. Now I’m not saying we are going to bring in 15 players in the summer and they will spend the next 2/3 years being world beaters but we need a real nucleus of a squad who are committed to back-to-back successive seasons. Now COSU could chance it, make a few decent signings over the next 2 weeks and we fluke it into the play-offs and take our chance but I can’t see it happening. (I could be wrong!) I think it’s worth a gamble but I’m not in charge of the purse strings…

on current showing I wouldn’t want ANY of the D&R players let alone Justham

Please tell me we were never serious about Justham?

I`m not sure about Data analysis, it should be a calorie controlled diet 🤣 😂

I actually never heard anything in relation to justhams allegedly wanting to come to us recently. He seems quite good at using any leverage available for his own contract negotiations.

Apart from the fact Ndlovu has to be one of the worst players I have ever seen at Roots Hall. Would be seriously, seriously surprised if he makes anything like the impact Kabamba did.
Of course he isn't as good as Kabamba. However, he has scored goals at this level and is a real handful. Our amazing defense over the past two seasons has made a lot of players look terrible to be fair. Even Mullin struggled against us on several occasions.

I've seen Ndlovu play well, a great goal away to Wrexham was a highlight that stands out. 14 goals in a playoff campaign for a side who would score one and put everyone behind the ball and then 10 goals in a relegation season are stats for a player we would all want to sign.

My point was, they've lost a player and gone and added a replacement straight away who has scored goals at this level. It was a point to further confirm how far away from likes of Barnet we are, as awful as it is to admit.

I could add Chesterfield also had a large squad of 29

You could also add they only used about 17 of them. To win a league its all about the 11 on the pitch not the 11 sitting in the stands. You also need some luck with injuries. Either side of their promotion season Chesterfield have spent big but had some shocking injury luck.

I was hoping we might get Ollie Pearce last summer. I watched a few of their cup games and there is so much more to his game than just goals. The reasons why we missed out have been done to death. Anyway if you had choice of signing the 10 LEAST used York players this season or Ollie Pearce who would it be

Exactly.......Quality over quantity every time.

I really think COSU will play down their ability and budget in the transfer market, Justin has indicated as much in interviews and rightly so.

We don't know their intentions and how much they can back Kev, Maher himself said he was frustrated with the leaked targets so all in all, it might seem quiet but this is expected until something is more or less official.

As for COSU, we can only judge based on history:
* Saved the club and spent millions without owning.
* Listening to fans. Example - providing the north bank as an option.
* Many improvements off the pitch in a very short amount of time.
* As for transfers, the likes of Josh Walker, Bonne and Moncur were big signings at the time with Championship and lower league EFL experience. We also paid £ for lower league talent like Waldron and Crowther (highly related at the time)

Two words with regards to recruitment, TRUST and PATIENCE.

As for COSU, they've been spot on so far with many things, future looks good.
