Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
I would say unless we get a good replacement for Bim, we could still be drawn into the battle at the bottom as our goal threat has greatly diminished.
on the other hand it will force kev to change the style of play. Something he has been reluctant to do. But the likes of Kendall and Waldron both like to run in behind and also are more penalty box forwards where as Bim was the type who'd get the ball outside the box and drive at the defence etc

In January it's so tricky to recruit the required quality we would like going forward unless we pay top dollar. I just think now we are in position in the league where we aren't going up or down, with that in mind we might aswell bring in couple of loans just to see us through but I do expect us to be pretty busy this summer coming with the aim to recruit the required quality of player to give us the best possible chance of promotion charge next season, if that means uping the budget then so be it. Mate I would love busy January but can't really see it happening.
I was going to quickly say something similar. Clubs willing to let go of the 20-goal-a-season striker we need so badly in January are virtually non-existent.

I'm in the Maher in camp but unless we do we very good business from here I fear this is the beginning of the end.

Sorry for the doom and gloom. 😆

The issue is any rough diamonds will have many clubs watching them. EFL teams even look out for these. Why would a player smashing it at say step 2 or 3 want to come and play in our B team when other teams are likely sniffing around? For the record I hugely like what Brentford are doing but we are non-league and along with numerous other reasons it wouldnt be remotely similar.
If the diamonds are already good enough to be playing in our first team then they are not so rough or undernourished. The idea was bring in younger said players and develop them. The point is B team is mens football and way closer to first team football than an u21. Anyway- no mention of B teams anymore, I think the idea is to proceed as if the idea never existed (I haven't seen any formal comment on it). Perhaps at the Q&A as Kev if he remembers when he joined the plan was for a B team and following the Brentford model (recruiting and developing promising players for the future, building a sustainable model et al) and is that now dead.

It’s a nice idea in theory but ultimately the cost would be way too high for a National League club to afford

Well COSU could hardly decide not to invest in the team now, and then blame him for a mid table finish having never had the support in the transfer market that many of the managers of other clubs received both in the summer and during the season, and indeed continue to receive..

I think for COSU to question Kev they would need now to match the spending of the big clubs in the division, the of behemoths the division such as York, Barnet & FGR and for there to be no improvement. But we havent the ££ for that.

Joe Hugill has been on loan from Man Utd at Wigan this year. Not really had much impact at L1 level, but could be an option for us if United want him to drop down and get consistent minutes.

Anyone would surely take back Cards. He knows how we play and knows the entire club. The whole team was setup around him. It would give the rest of the squad such a boost.

If we are really serious about winning the cup and trying to get up the table, signing Cards massively increases our chances of doing that.

We sold him for a profit at the end of the day. We wouldn't be swallowing any pride if he came back, it would be Cards doing that. Admitting it hasn't worked and you want to come back is not easy for any player, they'd have to be respected for swallowing that pride. I'd have him back without a doubt.
