Transfer News and Gossip Transfer Rumours Thread 2024/2025.

Transfer news
Sadly seems we are once again in need of a striker. Pepple aside none of our current crop look prolific in any way. Obviously the top ones are at a premium and everyone wants the same which makes it very difficult. Wouldnt be so bad if we had goals from other areas of the pitch but thats been an issue ever since Maher was appointed.
our standard of crossing is currently abysmal

Don't we have john still..... I'm sure his scouts searching up and down the essex senior league for next pepple.
Without the planned B team severely undernourished unpolished gems from leagues below will do nothing for us this season. Needs to be someone on the white board who can hit the ground running and if a loanee then with a few loans behind them as per Kev’s comments.

Better still a permanent where we know what we will get and that will require ££ which may conflict with our search for “value”.

Meanwhile if no one in this week I assume Jack Wood will be recalled.

I bet he won't.

Only at Southend. We sign Kendall and it finally looks like we are looking like a normal club again, padding out the squad and having options. Few weeks later, Pepple gone, Walker injured and there's talk of recalling Wood who isn't even a striker.

Even one of our targets Adarkwa is out for months with a bad injury.

If we thought Maher was tetchy before, that interviewer better have his kevlar balaclava on tomorrow for the pre-match interview.

Yeah I agree but unfortunately those players who we should be going for cost dollar especially during the January transfer window. It might be case of just getting few loans in just to get us through to the summer. That's when I would hope COSU will dig deep back whoever incharge to give us decent chance of getting out this league next season.

What I dont get about this B team is if we are signing unpolished diamonds from lower leagues why they would come to play in our B team and leave jobs, family, friends etc. They wont get paid alot either. Look at Waldron for example giving up a good job to come to us for example. Surely if we are doing something like this we would need to pick up youth players released from Premier League teams each summer and hope one or two come good. Additionally, if COSU are tightening the budgets why would they pay out for this set up? if you have 16 players for example they will all be on say £250+ per week which could be money spent on a couple of top quality players at this level instead.

Problem is, and Ron knew this, if you want fans to buy season tickets, especially in the early bird window, you have to show some intent for the following season. Mugs like myself will buy one regardless, but for those extra bums on seats that COSU are aiming for, intent needs to be shown. At the moment, some loyal fans are already questioning the style. That, coupled with a lack of positive transfers, may lead to some of those 4k season ticket holders not renewing next year. COSU are all about business, I'm sure they'll do something.

I am in no way saying 'splash the cash' and I never have. However, some positive signings that look promising need to be made for the majority to feel positive from now and going into next season.
