Transfer news
I still don't agree with this.

Luton are a championship club. They have a wealth of talent on big money and get 40 million parachute money.

They aren't worried about on of their reserves scoring in the national league.

100k and a 30% sell on secures a deal
100k? If that's in GBP, you're having a laugh and yeah, I'm sure it would secure the deal! No way he should cost that much, especially with a 30% sell on.

Question though, wouldn’t it be a concern that he can’t seem to last 70 mins at NL level? At least we’d assume that to be the case as Maher keeps taking him off.
Listening to JD who was summarising on BBC Essex, with 5 subs he said it makes good sense to have 2 fresh forwards toward the end of the match against tiring defenders. Wish I could have been there, but Boxing Day and a long journey on the A14 and A12 doesn't go.

January was hinted at because the players we wanted to bring in required those selling clubs to be able to bring their replacements in. IF we have got players in mind from EFL, then they can’t bring their replacements in until January.

For example, Woking bringing in Effiong and then allowing us to bring in Kendall.

We have a list of targets, as you would expect, and hopefully Kev & Co can bring in those that they require.
What the situation with Golding .. would we be looking to make it permanent in Jan/ extend it until end of season ..

I was wondering how serious Oxford rated him as only young but got potential.

Think he be solid to replace kensdale imo .

KM is on record saying he likes to put on two new strikers about two thirds through the game. Fresh legs against tiring legs. He can do this now that there are four strikers available each match.

Is Golding's loan until Jan?

Do people still think Pepple wouldn’t be a marquee signing? He’s 22, can finish with both feet and bullies defenders
Generally if you’re 22 and loaned out to the NL from the prem or championship you are no longer a youngster and miles off the first team. Exactly the scenario where you offer £100k with a good sell on and a long contract because that’s good business.
If we don’t someone else will.

The likes of Bim, Golding, Kendall are exactly the type to put the boat out for because they have real potential to offer a return. Kendall is a great aquisition already and I suspect we got a very good deal…

28 day loan wasn’t it. Bit odd. Normally that would suggest a short term to cover a temporary shortage. From our side maybe the availability of a CB from an EFL? Less likely we want a good look before agreeing to a, for us, meaningful fee? He didn’t go back Wealdstone and 28 days may suggest Oxford want to re-evaluate/ make a decision on what comes next in the window?

Odd he was recalled from Wealdstone on the pretext of Oxford wanting to take a good look at him in trading only to almost immediately send him to us?

Let's put it into perspective.

We have a player/reserve who we loan to a team 3 divisions below us.

He goes on to score a few goals and said club offers a nominal fee.

Do you think we are thinking this player is going to be the next big thing?

No, we probably aren't at all..

It's even more of a gap from championship to national league.

He didn't go back to Wealdstone, because he'd never been there in the first place. He had been on loan at Maidenhead.

They were playing him mainly in midfield and rumour has it that he was recalled, because Oxford want him given game time at CB.

What with our need, perfect arrangement and timing.

my contacts don't know, can't confirm whether there is any opportunity to extend or make permanent. l hope there is and we do.....either.

I get this, if the strikers aren’t playing really well. Both Bim and Charley were absolutely flying and I’m sure both would’ve preferred to continue. That’s not the first time that Bim has been taken off when on a hat trick. I don’t get it but maybe that’s just me.

As soon as both came off we lost the intensity and the game went flat.

Not sure how this counters my opinion that he shouldn't cost as much as 100k, especially with a hefty sell-on.

It would take almost a miracle to sign Bim Pepple. He could turn out to be anything. Luton know that. He's improving fast whilst still learning the professional game over here. Normally clubs like Luton will loan him out to a League Two club after us, and eventually a League One club. Then they will evaluate what they've got in him, and make their minds up to sell, or keep to eventually play for Luton.
He may even go to another NL club for the 2nd half of the season if Luton want a higher percentage of his wages paid by the loaning club, and we can't afford it.

Ben Strevens has left D&R last night after their defeat to Braintree. Not sure what that means for Justham, who made his 350th appearance for Daggers yesterday.

Some Daggers fans are calling for Darren Currie to get the Managers job…

I thought that when I saw he’d been sacked. Similar to when we nearly signed Hopper and then the Cowley ****ers took over at Colchester.

Although by the sounds of things it’s more to do with cost cutting than the manager.

An individual player's hatrick is much less important than having him fresh for the next game. We have a lot of games over the Xmas period, so it makes sense to rest them when we can

I think Pepple enjoys the rapturous reception from the crowd when he goes off, and so he should but it would be nice to see if he could manage 90 minutes one of these days.

I think Darren Currie would do a great job there, but I am hoping he gets his next shot as a Head Coach or Manager at Southend.

I am not sure what is going on behind the scenes at Southend but Kevin Maher seems to be pretty wound up recently and I have a hunch (without any supporting evidence) that Justin Rees - after settling into his role as Chairman - is now weighing things up carefully.

Currie did really well at Barnet and I think he was unlucky to find himself No. 2 rather than No. 1 when the current management team was appointed.
