Transfer news
It’s 100% not true.

I’m told, from the Pearce camp, that he had agreed terms with us and wanted us but didn’t want to wait for the embargo to finish as there was guarantees on when that would be.

York swooped in, due to the manager, and snagged him very quickly.
Looking at it, he`s made the right choice. We just need to identify the players we need to augment some of this squad that will play the 25/6 season. Players that we have missed out on is irrelevant now, looking forward to seeing who the 3 amigo`s have lined up to make their football a bit more entertaining?

We have Moncur, Pepple, Jeacock, Golding all on loan (plus Foran earlier on this season).

We clearly are using the loan market.

However the loan market is a gamble because if you sign a hit their club will likely recall them in January (Pepple) or not extend them (Kanu, Hayes), if you don’t use them their club will recall them (Foran, Jeacock and Golding?) and players who their club don’t want may not be committed (Moncur).

Our issue is that we’re trying to replace our spine. You want your own players as your spine and then fit loanees around them.
Yes Im pleased that at last we went for 4 on loan , although Zoners may rate Moncur and Jeaccock not the best

The loan market has an element of a gamble as does any recruit, That much depends on he quality of your recruitment, Clearly the league leaders are more than prepared do take that approach, although ten each seems a bit over the top an det they are top and their loanees approach a success and making a strong contribution, let alone the issue about squad sizes needed these days and that clear advantage in itself

However do you think the balance of probabilities with regards to success falls on your side if you bring in 10 loanees as opposed to 4. ? Do you think your chances of getting a couple or more of them on your books rises if you are looking at 10 , or at least 5 or 6 regularly. Do you think its also cost effective on the sharing the wage front?

To exaggerate the point for fun, say you brought in 10 loanees every year for 3 years, so you would be getting a good look at 30 players. Then imagine you didn't have an academy or even much of an opportunity for your first team squad to even get game time or end up like Wood

Add in that 20 of those 30 seen will be Under 21s like Pepple , already recruited and trained by EFL clubs, with academies and therefore a strong possibility that a goodly number are stronger candidates than your own under 21s ?! and you will snap some of them up, not all will be recalled

And one of the big reasons he felt he couldn't hold on was because part-time contracts, which he was on at Worthing, expire at the end of May, rather than then end of June like full-time contracts.

I only found that little fact out in the past few months.

It added a degree of urgency to his situation which we couldn't keep up with, because nobody could tell him when the embargo would be lifted.

Makes you wonder how or why a club wants there player to go on loan to a club that already has a large squad - it's not likely to further their development unless the club has a men's reserve team they can play in rather than u23/21's?? What's in it for the loanee?

Here are some of the salaries for Luton Town Football Club players:

  • Jacob Brown, Marvelous Nakamba, and Tahith Chong: These three players are tied as the club's highest paid, with a weekly wage of £30,000
  • Andros Townsend: Earns £20,000 per week
  • Elijah Adebayo and Reece Burke: Both earn £12,500 per week
  • Aribim Pepple: Earns £1,000 per week
  • Thomas Kaminski: Earns £1,300,000 annually
  • Tom Lockyer: Earns £420,000 annually
  • Mark McGuinness: Earns £20,000 per week
  • Tom Krauß: Earns £22,500 per week
  • Shandon Baptiste, Tim Krul, and Thomas Kaminski: All earn £25,000 per week
Forget Pepple,I think we should sign Carlton Morris—-he scored well in the Premier League and may not now be getting paid.

Do people still think Pepple wouldn’t be a marquee signing? He’s 22, can finish with both feet and bullies defenders
He should be THE signing. Already proven his worth so we know what we're buying more so than any other.

Somehow think Luton will cling onto him though, as with any larger club as soon as a player shows any flashes of being decent.

It would take almost a miracle to sign Bim Pepple. He could turn out to be anything. Luton know that. He's improving fast whilst still learning the professional game over here. Normally clubs like Luton will loan him out to a League Two club after us, and eventually a League One club. Then they will evaluate what they've got in him, and make their minds up to sell, or keep to eventually play for Luton.

The big question with Pebble is whether he can last a full 90, he's 22 and hasn't yet finished a mens game in this country.

At 22 if he was going to be an option for Luton he'd be there trying to stop them slipping into L1.

As much as would like to keep him, a lot will depend on what league Luton are in next season
I still don't agree with this.

Luton are a championship club. They have a wealth of talent on big money and get 40 million parachute money.

They aren't worried about on of their reserves scoring in the national league.

100k and a 30% sell on secures a deal

And that's why they'll be in no rush to sell a young striker scoring goals that could improve to be anything. He's not costing them much at the moment in comparison. They can wait and see what level he improves to. For us to tempt them, we'd have to put in an unbelievable bid.
