Out of interest how many of those 80 players were signed when we were under embargo and what are their wages compared to what we are willing to pay?
No idea of the wages, nobody will know that

I was just highlighting how quickly the 3 league leaders were able to move and completely overhaul their squads and go for larger squads early on, plus grabbing loanees quickly and regularly which emphasises the importance of pre season planning in my mind and moving quickly, and utilising the loan market to your advantage , I strongly support Kev being given a real first chance at this and Im not at all in the get rid camp. far from it
3 very large overhauls and getting them settled in very quickly, though by any standards is remarkable recruitment as well as skilful Management
Secondly I am staggered in truth to see just how strongly these top 3 sides went to the loan market for success,
Of course the majority therefore of these signings as you rightly mention ( mostly freebies and negotiated loanees costs ) were occurring during our very unfortunate embargo time.
Equally Another group of players were brought in who didnt have a club so would their fees be that high?
So Im not entirely convinced therefore a fortune has been spent ( unlike Wrexham etc ) although no doubt bigger pockets than ours are of course currently at play. By a rough calculation only 12 of the 80 may have involved any fee paid and usually to a lower league club. The bigger pockets will still be there next year and the year after that
We desperately need to find some consistency and much of that is down to the Manager Our demand for success couldn't be higher after the appalling Ron years. A lot of people want the view but not the climb , which is essentially about working harder and harder , gaini9ng consistency and grinding out results. Are we seeing that?
Finally whilst we have been out of an embargo at least another 50 players have been signed up elsewhere in just the past 10 weeks , many as above on free transfers or specifically loanees. It just shoots a bit of a hole for me in the myth that its oh so difficult to do? ,
We seem content with the second smallest outfit and that may in part relate to a sustainability budget and fair enough and arguably rightly so if that's the case. Plus there's maybe Kevs alleged dislike of too many loanees or a big squad . But if this years leaders are anything to go by then at some point a little more adventurous a and imaginative approach to the market is going to be needed
Oh and I think our best player is a loanee and Im very pleased to see Golding join us on loan and I hope hes a cracker and didnt cost a fortune either on the loan deal
