We have had 3 move out in Pepple, Moncur and Jeacock ( thinking of budgets )
, although some of these were costs shared

but Woods is back , Gooding we already on the books and Harness has arrived on emergency loan

So have I got it right that bottom line is we have space budget wise for one without saying goodbye to any one else, ?? Although we are still waiting on Kevs latest assessment of Wood, which will be interesting as the poor bug.er cant even get back to splintered rear territory

I presume an 18 month Contract for Hopper would be more expensive though

Unless he came in on loan but unlikely as our Kev is not the greatest fan of loans and prefers Permanents

In fairness he’s given the chance every day in training.

Reading between the lines, it would appear that isn’t happening for whatever reason, and I would expect him to be off once we recruit a new front line
Something seems amiss with Danny Waldron. Maybe he hasn't settled in the area, he wouldn't be the first one. I can see him going back to part time football and resurrecting his career in financial services.

Why would Tom hopper come to us from league 2 to play until the end of the season? He may as well stay put.

That said. 2.5 years is a bit much. Why not 1.5 with the option of another
To get game time to put himself in the shop window ahead of the summer and the fact he lives a stones through away from Roots Hall. He'll be getting paid the same money regardless if it's a loan deal.

The last thing we want to be doing is carrying a wage for someone who hasn't proved himself in a good 2 years.
We need room in the budget for a proper summer rebuild.

Yeah because he's likely to choose National League over the Championship.
You’ve completely taken what I’ve said out of context.

Obviously we wouldn’t sign him over Boro but the fact it’s a highly sought after player in the level below us, should be on our radar?

Don’t know where you’ve got the idea that I think he should sign for us over Boro?? Bit weird from you.

According to Col mgt and fans he has very much proved himself over the last couple of years?

The rumour mill moving… finally. Courtesy of CP, I do wonder if that is COSU letting stuff to alleviate any fan unrest. Either way it’s good to know we are active and ready to strike. That being said I was told the Brentwood striker was off up north to look at a club and that appears to be Halifax. That’s why I posted on this thread earlier in the week that it seemed we wouldn’t be signing him. We are in the race however it would seem.

Waldron has been very unlucky with injuries. We are not at this moment able to field a "B" team of any description. How do players attain match fitness without playing ?

The way hopper was playing before his injury was a joy to watch at the hall. Hopefully he’s not completely shot
For me that injury along with Ben Cokers was the beginning of our downfall through the leagues. Hopper got injured at home to Walsall and Coker injured in the very next game away against Sunderland. Both out for the remainder of the season (with Hopper not back until October the following season)

By the time Hopper was back and ready the manager had changed from Chris Powell to Ricky Duncan (caretaker) to Kevin Bond to the last couple of weeks of Gary Waddock temporary stint.

He was then sold to Lincoln for an undisclosed fee (probably to pay a bill or two) remaining in League 1 whilst we started our rapid descent down.

Ok mate. I don't want to be 'that guy' but it appears from the reactions that quite a few zoners read it the same way I did.
