You’ve completely taken what I’ve said out of context.

Obviously we wouldn’t sign him over Boro but the fact it’s a highly sought after player in the level below us, should be on our radar?

Don’t know where you’ve got the idea that I think he should sign for us over Boro?? Bit weird from you.
Not weird to suggest he isn't on our radar? How do you know he isn't?

Given the calibre of teams in for him, how do you know we haven't been priced out of a move?

Ok mate. I don't want to be 'that guy' but it appears from the reactions that quite a few zoners read it the same way I did.
How could you read me saying that a gem from the league below should be on our radar?

Regardless of who he signs for he is the sort of playing we should be aware of. That’s literally all I said and you took it completely the wrong way. Pretty impressive to take something that simple and read it completely incorrectly and make up your own take on the sentence. Fair play

Ffs that’s not what I’m saying 🤣. All I was suggesting that a player that’s in a league below who has been a standout for a team should have been on our radar.

Regardless of who’s interested or who he signs for. This is the sort of player John Still would have been aware of. That’s it. I literally don’t get how that could be taken any other way.

You don't know that he wasn't on our radar, and that as soon as we realized who else was looking at him, our attention went elsewhere. Stop digging, you won't be able to get yourself out soon.

Yes.

It may not be our only problem but it is our biggest single problem.

We’d be setting up an Ogunleye to fail if we went for someone like that without having someone for them to play off. We’re currently setting up Walker, Kendall etc to fail. We can keep throwing money to find a goalscorer but without a partner they will invariably fail unless they are a targetman themself.

Bim could do some of the targetman stuff but was work in progress. The only other one who can is Bonne and we don’t want to be in a situation where we have to play him.
Your another always knocking Bonne .Like Moncur when he leaves he will start scoring goals elsewhere and you will wonder why.

He’s bullied players before - when he has a vendetta it can be pretty cruel. Will Atkinson comes to mind - he was being abused months and months after his last game.

So the actual rumours. Tom hopper is possibly returning? Personally unsure. Loved him when he was here and have met him once or twice. Never wanted to leave that Jan still lives this way I believe so logical for him. Had such a brilliant start but that Injury was the end of all that.
The Brentwood lad feels like he is gonna slip away. Big jump to this level of course. But the fact he is also due to train with other clubs concerns me. We won't break the bank for him so can see others offering better money to him. Ideally we need both,

I thought he had the long lay-off following a home game v Walsall back in late 2018.
You're correct Rob. It was in the 3-0 win over Walsall. He ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament, looking it up. Then he had a deep gash in his leg 11 games after coming back, caused by a Bristol Rovers players studs. He had stitches for that.
My thoughts on Tom Hopper is that I agree with a Lincoln fan who said this, Do I think he’s a 20-goal-a-season striker? No. Do I think he’ll complement a young, energetic forward on loan from a bigger club? Absolutely.
I think it's clear we need a main striker that's prolific. We have an overload of strikers that play a bit part and find it very difficult to score. We need the Bim Pepple/ Freddy Eastwood type of striker that can make his own goals once given the ball, even with his back to the defender. Wishful thinking, I know.

Exerience counts on the pitch, we brought in Lyle Taylor who is 34 and very experienced, I had my doubts but he has been great both on and off the pitch. He was signed to help bring on our two young strikers Tovide and Ihionvien but he has also scored 10 goals in 25 games and he is loving it here. Ihionvien was sold to Posh for a big fee and Tovide is being scouted by a host of championship clubs so could be off soon too. We have just taken on Tyreece Simpson another young player who has lost his way a little but he has great potential that no doubt Lyle will be tasked with developing. If Tom arrives his experience on the pitch and in the dressing room/training ground will be of great help to your younger players.
