I should point out that a parsec is a unit of distance, not time and Han Solo's claim that the millenium Falcon made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs makes no sense whatsoever.

I hate to get all geeky, but the Kessel Run is a pathway from Kessel past the Maw Black Hole Cluster used by smugglers to transport precious Glitterstim spice. Solo's claim, referrs to his ability to move the ship closer to the Maw's black holes and therefore cut the distance travelled.

Yeahhhhh,

Exactly!!!!

What the f**k was Norman Hunter playing at in 1974 at wembley vs Poland ??

Sorry Gareth, my weekly Leeds digs was overdue........

Of course ...A leeds hating Clough angle , I hadn't thought of that.
As an aside what did you make of the novel "based" on Cloughies time at Leeds ?

If you read it as your meant too it's fantastic, it is a great piece of fiction. I wouldn't take much notice of most of it but it is a great read.

There was a bloke on "waccoe" who is Les Cockers son. He said most of it is made up but had some great stories to tell, he doesn't post anymore sadly

why do so many paperbacks have "The new number one best seller" on the cover?

How do they know it will be?

So to try to cover the other poor players in the team such as McFarland & Hughes. If he wasn't covering other poor players, he wouldn't have been at right-back instead of the centre of defence, where he should have been.

True, but it was what he did when he got there which did it for me...

And then everyone blamed Shilts for diving over the top of it.

Didn't Hector come on and miss a sitter as well ?

why do my sainsbury's tomotoes (6 pack) have "as seen on tv" on them?!
why would that make me buy them?

and finally, why is that little irish kid on x factor's name (eoghan) pronounced owen, and not eoghan?

Because by the time they come out in paperback they've already been out in hardback and have done quite well? Just a guess.

Good answer, but surely they cant nearly all be "THE new bestseller"

Well there isn't just one chart or category so it's perfectly feasible. The publishers may say, for example, that the new paperback in your hand was the best-selling fictional crime novel when in fact what they mean is that it was their best-selling fictional crime novel (eg only counting those published by them) when they count all of the fictional crime novels written by 30-35 year old American males sold in Iowa on wet Tuesdays in April.

What I'm getting at is, you're right, they're not all true best-sellers!
