The Essex CCC Thread

203/4 at Tea. What a pity for Godleman, just missing out on a century on his Essex debut, and possibly the first first class 100 of the season. Chris Rogers of Derby has that honour.

263-5 now, MtS out for 57.

Fossie 58*, RtD 3*.

Good effort by the boys so far, just needed someone to get a big ton.

325/7 at close of play, Foster out for 88.

There's just been an item on BBC London news that police are investigating two Essex players in connection with "match irregularites". :stunned:

I went today, very enjoyable. Ball seemed to swing a fair bit - Pothas was kept busy behind the stumps diving around after the ball passed the bat. Godleman and Foster looked in excellent nick, and Walker's 57 was incredibly painful. Shame we lost Tendo near the end though. 325-7 a good score, being put in and the pitch looking fairly green.

Day 4 - we're 179/5 in our second innings, having conceded a first innings defecit of 9 - we scored 345, with Hants getting 354 in reply, thanks largely to 169 from Jimmy Adams (not the former WI captain; instead, a lanky Englishman with a shock of blond hair).

Can't see how this will be anything other than a draw, unless we capitulate calamitously. 8 points to Essex, 10 to Hants.

looks like a draw unless the captains can contrive a result.
Wouldn't have thought that likely, although it might be interesting if we get rolled over for about 260 around half past 2

Probably not the best phrase to use given the current situation.
Oh I wasn't insinuating anything ;) A chase of 250 in 3 hours is a distinct possiblity, and could be on the cards without any collusion from the captains.

Napier is gone. Tendo needs to bring our lead up to 250/260 here to give us a chance of a draw/win.

Probably not the best phrase to use given the current situation. Any idea what the weather is doing in Chelmsford, I'm in Central London and it's very grey here?

Cloudeyish but bright day, doesnt look like any rain. Surely its got to be a draw if we can bat for another 45 mins......
