The Essex CCC Thread

At lunch Essex are 212/6, looks like a draw unless the captains can contrive a result.

I'm not sure why everyone thought it was a nailed on draw. Maybe you all have more faith in the Essex batting line-up than I do.

By Pettini contriving a result, do you mean contriving to get out for yet another low score?

With Essex minus Cook & Bopara I don't have a huge amount of faith in their batting. My thoughts on the draw were more about the weather closing in than anything.

Also why isn't Cook playing here? Many players recently returned from Bangladesh are playing such as Bell, Trott & Finn, but I suppose they aren't centrally contracted. With the first test against Bangladesh over 6 weeks away I hope we see Cook plaing for Essex.

Cook was captain, I'd imagine that's pretty stressful. With so little time off between now and the Ashes this winter, I fully support the ECB's decision to grant him a little time off.

If I were Cook I wouldn't want to captain England again and retire with a five out of five winning record.

You probably have a point, but Cook isn't a regular in the one day side and I think there are only 6 test matches this summer (it may be 7). Then I think there's a break from mid September until the first Ashes Test in November.

Cook should be a regular in the one-day side this year, just not 20:20.
