Great start to the season, fantastic match. RtD put in a match winning performance to get us into this division and he's put another one in for us to win our first game of the season! RtD seems to be effective in all forms of the game, he's an excellent player.

I've never doubted RtD as a one day player, a destructive hitter, bloody good in the field and more than adequate with the ball. However he seems to have stepped up and made great strides in the first class game which is to his credit. He's not a bad player to have at 7 in the batting order, and hopefully his bowling will improve.

Good start by Essex, it's up to Durham on Friday, and here's hoping for another good team effort.

Legend win!! I was sitting there last night having forgotten the cricket when I received a text saying Essex had won! Then I read it again this morning. It must be true... Quality!

Tbh IMO Ravi has performed above and beyond for us with the ball. Bowling some good wheels when he needs to! If RTD can step up that would be great because we are very very weak in the bowling department. Let's create options!

Big credit to Masters as well - did you see his economy figures?! Something like 1.83 over the whole match, and he put down a fair few overs (52, from memory). He's going to be a very important player for us this summer, no mistake.

Pretty uninspiring (Like Coldplay's music). Always a good laugh at the end of an innings though as he is one of the world's genuine rabbits. Probably better than what we have in the pace bowling attack (Masters miser-like bowling aside) but if he manages to get through county line ups that will say a lot about the standard of county cricket. Better than Andre Adams though.

Other county news, Woakes has started off today well with CR Woakes 6-3-7-3. With Finn getting 14 wickets last week this bodes well as them two look to be the future of English bowling....
