The Essex CCC Thread

Bah, Ravi's been dropped.

I can't say I blame them for dropping him, but it is annoying that they took him all the way to South Africa and deprived Essex of his talents.

Don't worry, he'll be back in for Shah after this game.

Anyway back to the CC

Derbyshire: 474 (128.3 overs)
Essex: 297-5 (93.5 overs)

Northamptonshire: 600-8 (116.2 overs)
Leicestershire: 218 & 170-7 (46.0 overs)

Surrey: 430 (122.4 overs)
Glamorgan: 400-4 (94.0 overs)

Gloucestershire: 552 (123.4 overs)
Kent: 264 & 95-0 (15.3 overs)

Not neccessarily, as Derbys need to win as well, so as long as we can avoid the follow-on (a long way away at the moment), Petts can negotiate a last day run-chase.

Derbyshire: 474 (128.3 overs)
Essex: 37-2 (13.0 overs)

Gloucestershire: 253-4 (60.5 overs)
Kent: 264 (62.0 overs)

Northamptonshire: 600-8 (116.2 overs)
Leicestershire: 77-1 (20.0 overs)

Surrey: 430 (122.4 overs)
Glamorgan: 24-0 (10.0 overs)

Points gained atm -

Northants 5 (176)
Derbys 5 (169)
Essex 2 (176)
Gloucs 4 (167)
Glam 2 (166)

Hang on a minute! We were three points ahead of Northants at the start of this game. They have got maximum batting and bowling points.............i.e. 10points. If we only got 2 bowling points and I have esimated 4 batting points.................aren't we already screwed........whatever our result ....
....assuming of course that Northants will win .........which of course they will.

South Africa C have won by an innings and loads, meaning we need to win to go up.

We declared at 356-9, a deficit of 121, and Derbys are now 23-1, a lead of 144. I can see us having to chase 330 in about 90 overs tomorrow.

You can only pick up 3 points for bowling, making a maximum of 22 for the game which is what Northants have picked up. 19 points for us, will put as level on points, and promoted by virtue of picking up more points in the 2 games between us.

Cleverly, Essex batted to 4 bonus points, giving us 20 for the win, just in case we were unfortunate to be docked points for a slow over-rate, as we were at Middlesex earlier in the season.

Thanks for that precision........................so in a way it's all down to how adventurous Derby feel............and how well we bat. Providing, of course, that the weather is kind to us for the remainder.

No probs. It's a bugger that Northants have won so quickly otherwise Derbys would still have been in with a chance, and might have set a less challenging target. As it is now, Derbys can set what they like, knowing we have to go for it.

166-4...........It's all down to Pettini and Forster. SOMEONE needs to post a big score .............IF it's not one of these two............WHO ELSE?

Pettini and Ten Doeschate?

We have won! what a brilliant chase. Nice captains innings from Pettini and a quite brilliant ton from TenDo (off about 60 balls!).

We have won some really tight games over the past few weeks, not to mention salvaging a draw with Glamorgan, and you have to applaud the ability to win those games. Also nice to keep the Saffers down.
