Derbys 57-0.

Northants 21-2 against Leics Thats good !!!

Kent 20-1 against Gloucs but it's raining

Surrey 39-2 against Glamorgan

Didn't Glamorgan and Gloucester knock each other out of the promotion frame by drawing last week ?? I can't seem to find an up to date table but i believe we are 3 clear of Northants (who have started poorly) and 10 ahead of Derby who must win to stand a chance of promtion

No, they are both within 11 points of us, so a win for either of them, and us losing would see them leap-frog us.

But surely us losing would hand 2nd place to Derby ?? (or Northants should they win)

Back to business, the dangerous Chris Rogers is 52* out of 94-1 .. THE key wicket i believe

Derbys 149-1. Now raining.

Northants 149-4 against Leics

Kent 101-1 against Gloucs.

Surrey 146-3 against Glamorgan

As they pass 300 for 2 wickets down, can anyone inform me why we chose to bowl?

Honestly, the pitch this morning was very green and doing a fair bit, so I can see the reasoning. That said, as Essex only have one bowler, I'd always choose to bat first, allowing Kaneria a chance at a fourth day pitch. As long as Essex apply themselves properly, there's no reason they can't pick up a high-scoring draw to give themselves a glimmer of a chance.

Rogers has just got out. Derbys 400-4, need another 2 wickets in the next 12 overs to pick up another point.

Gloucestershire: 69-1 (20.0 overs)
Kent: 264 (62.0 overs)

Northamptonshire: 541-6 (105.0 overs)
Leicestershire: Yet to bat

Surrey: 334-4 (87.2 overs)
Glamorgan: Yet to bat
Close

Derbys 429-6, so we've picked up another point :)

Gloucestershire: 135-1 (33.3 overs)
Kent: 264 (62.0 overs)

Northamptonshire: 562-6 (110.0 overs)
Leicestershire: Yet to bat

Surrey: 361-6 (102.0 overs)
Glamorgan: Yet to bat
