The Essex CCC Thread

We've declared on 253-8, as we're unlikely to make 300 from there (were 231-8), therefore ensuring we take more bonus points of the match by denying Northants the final bowling point.

They're 18-1 in reply, hopefully we'll skittle them.

Close at 39-2. Not sure how keen they are going to be to win this game, so i'd guess they'd be happy to see the game out as a draw, as they currently sit in 2nd!

150-8, Danish picking up Hall in the last over before lunch.

Northants lead by 196. We don't want to be chasing much more than 220......

In the light of the morning session the declaration yesterday looks like a great decision. Hopefulyy Essex can knock over the last two cheaply and get the win. They may yet sneak second spot, however their last match is at Derby, and no doubt it'll **** down for four days.

Our enduring failure to knock over the tail is going to cost us here. 153-6 in the 1st innings became 299 all out, and 90-7 has become 172 - 8 in this innings.

How many overs will we face ?
Don't think there's a minimum overs in the day, although I think they have to bowl a minimum of 15 in the last hour. So we've got an hour plus 15 overs (say 28 overs?) to score 182

First two overs after tea go for 3 runs. If we were serious about the run chase you wonder why they didn't send RTD or Napier out with Cook to try and get some quick runs early?

I can maybe understand them opening as normal to build a platform, but we could do with Maunders getting himself out now, or at least batting for the team....
