The Essex CCC Thread

Danish gets his 5th! Taylor is in at the moment who is an excellent prospect and with a very decent 1st class career for someone so young but hopefully we can keep chipping away and make them follow on.

He got the sixth having conceded two lots of 4byes that over....unlike Foster to concede so many byes so I hope its an indication of the pitch taking more and more spin.
With Phillips bowling 10 over for 6 runs, it certainly looks like it. Will be very disappointed if we don't win this one.

Yes, I thought it strange that RtD didn't come in at 7. What's the cut-off point for batting bonus points ??

Good thinking.

Must admit i've no idea what the bonus point rules are this year. I've given up trying to keep track of the changes to the domestic formats.

The good news is that after that Oval pitch the ECB can hardly have a go at us for producing a helpful pitch.

Not sure we should enforce the follow-on if we get the opportunity, we might have to give Dani a chance to put his feet up and have a smoke.

Must have skirted round us. I look over towards you way and it does look a bit manky. Clouded over a bit now, but still some blue sky about.

The blue sky looks to be mainly to the East and I think the weather is coming from the West. Think that shower probably followed the Thames and you're up by Liverpool St IIRC so it would have skipped you. If we are going to have showers that alters the thinking on the follow on and makes it far more important.

We've enforced the follow on.

Kaneria took 8 in the end. A retired hurt and a wicket for the greatest one-day batsman of all time have denied him an attempt at Jim Laker's record of 19 wickets in a game.

Is anyone else thinking of taking in the benefit game at Upminster park today? Essex are taking a pretty strong squad and it's entry by programme, which is just £2.

Should be a nice day in the sun.
