One question that you could ask, is why have the supporters been granted such a small amount of time. If he really wanted to be honest and open and improve the 'relationship' then a few hours would seem more appropriate.

30 minutes seems like lip service again to me.

Yep,reckon your spot on there ,still, good luck chaps.

Because the picture with all the companies is so complex, and to reassure some people who want to know whether he ultimately puts money into the club (not other money such as from Sainsbury's) or receives money from the club, it would be good to know which of his various companies is profitable and what are its assets, and whether he is drawing an income or dividend from it in order to live on?

Great question! :hilarious:

Great we are trying to get answers but i'd put everything I own on the answers we really need being "commercially sensitive"

I would guess updates should be requested re. FF and the transfer embargo as these appear to be the most common areas of uncertainty and concern on this forum and amongst most fans.

In your shoes, I would also like to make it clear towards the end of the meeting how unsettling it is for the supporters that the majority of them (that's how it appears to me) feel disillusioned and frustrated that they are having to seek updates in this manner due to seemingly poor communication coming out of the club. I would conclude by asking if this Q&A could be a regular slot, say once a month, to assist both sides in improving this communication.

Overall, I expect to gain little more from the exercise than the RM statements but at least it is a proactive step and an opportunity to voice our concerns, well done all involved.

Personally I would prefer if the questions asked were those which only Ron can answer as opposed to questions which could be worked out fairly simply by accessing the accounts of SUFC, MD etc etc or various planning websites.
Particularly as the meeting is being held before a match and therefore is restricted for time.

As we own only a 12 foot strip of land at the entrance of Roots Halls, is there an agreement that prevents Sainsbury's from building before we move out? If that ever happens or could they march in tomorrow and start work leaving us groundless?

The planning permission was granted on the basis they cant build until the stadium is finished.

I think the foundations need to be in place for the stadium at FF, before work can start at RH.

Either way the Sainsbury store cannot be operational until the new stadium is.

How long are Sainsbury's willing to wait before they get disgruntled and potentially want their investment back or intervene themselves at a high level?

And the stadium will be the last thing to be demolished as that is the area where the housing will be going.
The Carpark is where the shop is going to be so the work on the infrastructure can start without disrupting the football and without Pizza man being turfed out.

The main issue is timing, the Sainsbury store works will not be started until the stadium development has progressed to the point that the store will not be finished before the stadium is fully usable, then there will be seamless transfer and Sainsbury do not have to interrupt their building works.

Expect months of no carpark and different access to the East and Southe stands

Think you need a Q&A with Sainsbury to answer that one.

Surely they'd have given Ron Martin a time-line though what with all the money they've given us? Might rattle them an e-mail in the hope they can give an insightful reply but will probably not get much info back.

Sainsbury have nothing to lose in this, they have an opportunity of a site in the heart of southend, its not like they can simply choose to build somewhere else, unless they wanted to go out to Fossetts

I could have chosen any number of posts to ask this question, I am not Pro Ron , but this is something that I don't understand .
Re the 'Sainsburys money'. The loan is against collateral that Ron has put up, whats the difference between this and him having sold the land using his own cash ? Ultimatedly if he does not repay the laon they take his assets, so why are so many people hung up on calling it 'the sainsbury's money' and insinuating that he has effectively put in nothing . What am I not getting?

The above make a lot of sense to me.

The only other thing I would add is a question on attendences. Basically does Ron realise that he is the reason that some people stay away , and is he willing to swallow hos pride and change the way he acts/communicates to try and get the supporters base on side? Ron is part of the problem, is he willing to change to be part of the solution as well?

Take it that it's a given that he isn't going to sell.

How on earth could he change to make everyone be happy he's here?

I dont think the land in Benfleet he used as collateral is actually worth anything as it doesnt have planning permission. If he could have sold it I would have thought he would have when we needed 2 million+ for the taxman.
