I'd say Ron won't shed much light on FF other than what he has said about it in the past. If he had something to say positively on this he would have called the fans for a meeting to announce things were going ahead or a press conference.

Unfortunately think you are right in that if there was good news it would have been announced. I initially got my hopes up after the statement but after rereading it I yet again got my hopes up as I always do when it comes to the stadium.

I dont think the land in Benfleet he used as collateral is actually worth anything as it doesnt have planning permission. If he could have sold it I would have thought he would have when we needed 2 million+ for the taxman.

The large sainsbury loan was secured against, IIRC (it was posted on here at the time), A plot of land to the East of Eastern Avenue , Southend on Sea. Which prompted discussion about whether it was B&L , the general concensus was that it was.

Utlimate PR, exciting announcement at 5.00 tomorrow, followed by the Q&A, masy explain why the meeting has taken RM a while to agree to

(1) Is it true before you went on holiday recently you trousered a shedload of consultancy expenses, even though we were under an embargo and unable to pay our bills.
(2) Why are are you such a shonky little nob.

I suppose to add to my post, that a Press conference would have been called if he had something seriously positive to say,Then why did he just not say something along these lines a little clearer in his statement last Monday?

Haha. He wouldn't admit to that. But that was one of the "rumours" doing the rounds a few weeks back.

There are still details outstanding such as the s106's, if he thought they were to be resolved at the time of the statement it would explain why he mentioned announcements. He certainly wouldnt make a statement until everything was final though Im sure.

So Ron, the crap business man secured a $5 million loan against property worth sod all. He is clearly a better businessman than many give him credit for ! I wonder if the loan manager's supervisor at Sainsbury's knows this?
Also re using it to to pay the tax man, fair point but remember it takes time to find a buyer and more importantly I am guessing that he had effectively already used it in his long term business plan.

I am not trying to support him, but what you are saying does not make sense so I go back to my original point

As I put on another thread, there is a now an interesting article by David Scriven on the OS. Entitled 'Cheer not Jeer asks Sturrock' it may also indicate the end of the embargo may not be far away.
http://www.southendunited.co.uk/news/article/081012-cheer-not-jeer-asks-sturrock-415695.aspx

“We’re definitely light in midfield and it is something Steve (Kavanagh) and I are trying to address,” he sai

Sorry to repeat I meant reply to this quote. This is possible but heard it all before Under Tilson. I'll believe embargo is over with when we sign a player.

Sturrock was identifying targets before the home league game vs Daggers and did so but the embargo prevented him from signing them. This article was clear two days before that match. Now I'm not saying the embargo won't be lifted soon but it is fair to say there is a feeling of de ja vu about it. Chris Phillips report in the Echo was put across well and to be honest from how he has worded certain aspects of his report he's showing no signs of having not any wind on any positive news soon and to be fair he would know an outline of things if not in full detail. Again tonights meeting with Ron should be intriguing but I hope if fans don't hear what they want from him it won't deflate them in terms of their support for the game. I'm sure it won't though.

The fact he had to borrow 5 million secured against anything which he then had to pay about 4 million in debts off hardly proves he is a successful businessman....

We do know, right, that both Ken and Fitz will be told that a lot of what they get told tonight is of too sensitive a nature to post on the message boards or Trust website?

Im sure there will be things he wont even discuss.

At least the questions will be asked, and maybe we will get a little more information than we have now.

In which case they should not be told it. They are only supporters like the rest of us and should not be given privileged information. Things are known by association but for club officials to pick and choose who they impart info to, and yes TB I include you, is divisive and irresponsible.
