Alex Brown, 23 year old left back, has left Kettering Town after winning multiple POTY awards. Wing backs is a position we need with only Demetriou confirmed for next season and Clifford being offered a contract.

Where does Ralph figure in that scenario?

Assuming we are continuing with 3 at the back, then he would stay at the left side of the back 3. He could mainly play there or be a backup at left wing back.

Guess it depends who our targets are in both areas.

I would much rather see him as a wing back but, as you say, it depends who the Amigos bring in for the back line. I do worry a bit on the Clifford front, he seems a bit fragile at times.

That's an interesting development. From the short statement Kettering have made, it seems he is set to sign for another club imminently. Would bring good competition at left wing back alongside Clifford (if he signs)

ALEX BROWN|

The club can confirm that Alex Brown has left the club. Alex leaves with our best wishes as well as a host of awards from the 21/22 season:

? VP's POTY
? Fan's POTY
? Director's POTY
? Overall POTY

We're gutted to see you go, Alex. Go and smash it ?

I beg we take a look at him. Would be a great signing

Not followed by Stan on Twitter so we can’t be interested ?

I'd have agreed with you before the start of this season, but he has done well at the back, especially with Lopata and Hobson. Both him and Clifford have a history of injury issues, so I'm sure there could be times during the season when both are unavailable. With no transfer window, this could be where loanees come in.

all the rumours are for players in lower leagues it seems. We also need players who know this level and if possible some decent ones with football league experience or we will simply have another rebuild when we go up. It is great we are looking at young players from the leagues below but our whole transfer strategy cannot simply be that as it is a big step up still with a lot of these players going from part time to full time.
Our strategy is built that way because it is all we can afford. Not signing 'decent ones with football experience' will give us a better chance of avoiding the dreaded 'cash flow shortages' that afflict us from time to time.
We are relying on someone with a proven track record in our attempts to find suitable players from the lower leagues. We are hoping this will make us at least competitive. In due course we might even be able to sell on one or two of these players.
Being competitive should translate into good gates and keeping our following, This should allow for consolidation of our finances. Selling on players would be a welcome bonus. If, as the plan envisages, we progress and move up the pyramid, we will eventually be able to think about recruiting the sort of players players we now realistically cannot afford to.

We have bigger resources than most of NL side apart from Wrexham (hopefully they go up), Notts County & Chesterfield. We should realistically go for Boreham, Dagenham, Halifax, Barnet etc best players & look to pick up young and talented players from club like Brackley FC etc.
