As others have said, I think he gives us something different and reckon he could be a good foil for Dalby and provide some competition for Cardwell and Murphy when they return to action.

Who would have thought back in the dark days of August last year, we would have what (fingers crossed) looks as though it has all the makings of a great combined strikeforce?

Or pay a fee for a player who will be motivated to do well for Southend Utd and make his dad the most proudest man on earth as his own son played an part in helping Southend reclaim their football league status.
🤣🤣🤣as I said have any ITK posters ever said we’re interested in Cheek, don’t think so.
We’re talking about Ron Martin here he doesn’t give a **** about Cheeks dad he cares about £££££ and Kelly has a resale value with his age, Cheek doesn’t

I think he has a massive opportunity as Cardwell n Murphy are out for a while to really cement a place in the team.

Scores the ugly goals too - a couple there were from a couple of yards out. Good to see IMHO.
Yep. Couldn't give a **** how they go in, just be there in the right place at the right time. A Fox in the box has been missing for a long time. Dennis showed signs though to be fair.

15-20 goals off his backside will do just fine.

Couldn't agree more, Smiffster.

To give it context, Wreh seems to score the "Freddy Eastwood" type goals, but also the "Gary Lineker" type goals too. We seem to be able to create chances - need someone to put them away. Good vibes from this one.

46 games, 39 goal contributions last season.

23 Goals & 16 Assists.

Cracking numbers at any level and worthy of higher platform to perform on.
Goodship scored 39 goals at the same level. *runs and hides*

Strikers are weird to judge based on previous stats. Someone who is a proven goalscorer at one club may not be successful at another club because their skill set is not suited for that club. For example, Kelly and Cheek would be two very different strikers. Watching their goals from last season, Kelly is someone who could create their own chances while Cheek is more of a player who is clinical when presented with good chances.

Looking at the highlights video (doesn't always give you a 100% picture of the player), but there are a variety of different types of goals and link up play. He doesn't seem like the player to just wait in the box for service, but gets into those positions to get those tap-ins.

However already 2 goals and 2 assists for Mooney

Cheers son’s crying. Nice one.

From the clips I've seen he does seem a power house but also has a decent touch and awareness for link up play, the Akinfenwa comparison seems apt.

The problem with Goodship was that he had nice technique but not a lot else, and seemed to lack that killer, winning instinct. It's early days but Wreh seems like the sort who will be able to battle man to man and come out on top, and that should put him on a far better footing to translate his form from the same division into this one.

In many ways I'm much happier picking up Wreh on the cheap than splashing six figures on Kelly. Sure the latter is *likely* going to perform better, but we need to live within our means.
