A loanee forward. A Dennis rather than the QPR bloke. With just Mooney, Powell and Dalby we still have more attacking options than under the tactical genius.

There must still be some Division 3 & Division 4 players that are without contracts for the coming season. They will be out & about the country on trial - the closer we get to the start of the season, the more they will have to consider offers from non-league clubs.

I know that won't be to everyone's taste but many players do go up & down the leagues during their career due to a number of different factors. It's just about selecting the right player to "catch" on their downward path, isn't it?

And many on here have posted that we have a good recruitment team at the moment.

It's a tough one as any striker in the National League North/ South will be way off it fitness wise and as Smiffy says, aside from Cheek who is out of our reach wages wise, there are really no other candidates in the National League.
Let's get Wreh signed up though as a starter for ten. He offers something different that we don't currently have. I thoroughly enjoyed watching his performance at Colchester.

As highly as we think of our club we will not get every target, and other clubs will have managers and coaches who are as passionate about targets joining them as Kev et al are. It happens. We move on.

We keep looking for hidden gems, gems in the making, gems that need a bit of polishing, and recycling some past gems who still have some lustre to offer perhaps. We can also borrow gems (as we have done quite successfully in the past).

I’ll be happy with a bag of iced gems 👍🏼

I wonder if theyve considered Fejiri Okenabirhie - John Still would know him, but he suffered a massive injury recently.

I'm starting to think there's not really a top quality NL striker within our reach now.

Perhaps a decent Premier League/Championship loanee is the answer. Stan will certainly have the contacts for those.

Plus get Wreh signed up.
Agreed. I think give Wreh a year's deal with an option (if possible) then look at the loan market, even if only initially for 6 months, whilst Cardwell and Murphy catch-up.

So come on then. We missed out on Kelly. What other suggestions do we have that fit into the decent NL striker category that we could realistically go for?

Cheek. I’d be more than happy with that. But I fear we won’t get near his wage demands.

Who else?

Tyrone Marsh of Borehamwood has always done well and got a few goals at this level, but I am guessing would require some form of fee as he is still with B'wood. But 28 years old -

Another one is Marcus Dinanga of Altrincham, bagged loads in his first couple loan spells in non league. Had a brilliant loan at Dartford back end of last season -

I’d be interested to know if Akwasi Asante is one of interest. Still at Chesterfield after being transfer listed, think he’s had some preseason minutes.

done. Gutted in truth. When I heard we were interested a number of weeks back, this was the one I hoped we would get done. But we couldn’t. That’s where we are. We move on. Solihull now have a forward line of Kelly, Dallas and Sbarra. Outrageously good. Hopefully we can find another top quality option.

Is he holding up that shirt as some kind of advice for Ron?
