With what has been suggested about Kelly refusing a move unless Maidenhead let him go to us, as his alleged 1st choice, this would be where Kelly would find himself, albeit without the pressure to sign a new contract. But stuck at Maidenhead until the end of the season until out of contract so he could come to us, hoping that we hadn't moved on and found a new target, which is why I don't think that will happen.
It would be brinkmanship- who blinks first. If he stays it costs Maidenhead £100k to have him for one further year. And its not to try and get a bigger fee, just more up front. Can't see that either. In the end its how much he wants to come to us verses Solihull. His attitude will decide this and I'm not convinced he will be that bothered..

You could see that if we were a really big club but even with some emotional attachment I can't see that the pull would be strong enough.

Have we ever had a successful "Josh" playing for us?

I have the memory of Josh Wright in my mind ......... and, quite irrationally, I think it is influencing my feelings on the matter.

I’d take Lopata over Kelly.

This bid we’ve made for Kelly has given me real hope that a permanent deal for Lopata could be possible.

We’re prepared to lay out over £100k on Kelly, albeit over a period of time.

I am positive that we would offer at least the same for Lopata, most probably more, and there’s clearly a chance it could happen.

Do Sheffield United trust us more than Maidenhead?…….. I hope so given Currie’s links to Sheff U.

Positive vibes 😎
Sheffield United can afford to take more risks than Maidenhead.

I am sure Josh Kelly will be excited to score in front of 30 Solihull fans in North Bank, instead of playing away in front of potential 1k plus away fans at Maidstone, Dorking, Woking, Dagenham, Barnet, Wealdstone & Boreham etc.

There has been a lot of these references to crowd size and I just don’t get it. On that basis a lot of Prem players should be playing for Sunderland because they have bigger crowds? I’d have thought players look for the best side to play for and if it is a smaller club is punching above their weight then it must feel even better!
