I’d take Lopata over Kelly.

This bid we’ve made for Kelly has given me real hope that a permanent deal for Lopata could be possible.

We’re prepared to lay out over £100k on Kelly, albeit over a period of time.

I am positive that we would offer at least the same for Lopata, most probably more, and there’s clearly a chance it could happen.

Do Sheffield United trust us more than Maidenhead?…….. I hope so given Currie’s links to Sheff U.

Positive vibes 😎
Currently there is no end to the new contract impasse that exists between Lopata and the Blades. Until that is resolved he ain't going anywhere.

Unless it becomes increasingly clear that they'll lose him on a free next summer, so will decide they want any fee for him that they can get.

Surely there is some kind of ruling/FA law that Sheff utd are breaking? Telling a player that they will only allow to him to go out on loan if he signs a new contract has to be a violation of some rule.

This is where an independent regulator could step in and act as an arbitrator of some sort. Just seems absurd and illegitimate that you can hold a professional athlete over the barrel like that. Like something you would read out of footballers autobiography who played in the 80s when governance was inadequate.

For what it's worth I've been chatting with Blades fans on their board for some while and they are of the opinion that the Club rates him as a prospect but are not prepared to budge on the contract hence no appearances in friendlies so far. The fact that they have just signed a new young 1st team CB may be influencing Kacper, who knows. I'm still extremely doubtful that he will be anywhere near us come season kick off.

They’d still be due compensation I think ? So there is not this pressure on the club.
Yeah and with him being the Polish u21 captain you would think they would get at least £250k in compensation.

Not too sure what happens if he moves abroad on a free though. Think when Elvis went to Iceland we didnt get compensation

We won't get top 7 I'd Hobson carry's on duty his sleeping at the wheel/making his mistakes at the back.

We need someone to replace him really, and hopefully it's the polish lad from Sheff United as I think that would be the difference.

agreed with this.. even the years under tilly, we had a superb defence and of course Freddie.. even then it wasn't plain sailing, we had to do it via play offs etc... a super centre half and an out and out striker will be needed to be the difference between a good side, and a promotion winning side.

I personally think if it were a choice between the two then Lopata is more required over the whole season. Striker wise I think we are really only lacking a bit of depth short term but goals wise I think we are looking potentially strong already with Mooney, Powell cutting in off the wide positions and Dalby hopefully building on his goals from last season.

But has anyone ITK actually stated it could only be one or the other as would still like to see Kelly as well, budget permitting?

That's only if he goes to an English club isn't it? If he went abroad would they get anything?
Bear in mind for these purposes Scotland is abroad. Given he's Polish Sheff would be uncomfortable assuming he wouldn't just go outside England for a year or indeed for longer (would hardly be an idle threat).

With what has been suggested about Kelly refusing a move unless Maidenhead let him go to us, as his alleged 1st choice, this would be where Kelly would find himself, albeit without the pressure to sign a new contract. But stuck at Maidenhead until the end of the season until out of contract so he could come to us, hoping that we hadn't moved on and found a new target, which is why I don't think that will happen.
