I feel the permanent signing of a recognised striker could be the difference between a great start, and finishing in the top 7, and not.

Not signing a striker permanently now is certainly risky, but would that decision be by choice?

100% agree. You just have to look at last season interms of sufc scoring stats. I'm sure we was 1 of the lowest scoring teams...... majority of last season top 7 sides scored 80+ goals.

The usual in the know types where providing regular updates to expect signings. Those have now stopped. Suggests things aren't really happening or aren't close at this time.

We were told that there were ongoing discussions with a striker where terms with the player & medical would not be an issue but terms with his current club were challenging and ongoing. This was likely to take a while.

We have the three players in on trial where a decision will probably need to be made next week latest.

That was it, re ongoing stuff. So I don't think we expected anything this week although thats not to say something can't happen.

We probably have a couple of open places, maybe three- snd staying patient makes sense at this point. Players waiting around for deals at certain clubs/levels will be starting to get twitchy, as pre-season end clubs will be deciding who they will be sending out on loan, after the EFL window closes end of Aug that's often another opportunity. We were told optimum squad size was 24? We are not far off that.

The negativity on here now is bad. ITK posters suggesting they won’t post if people question them, others suggesting transfer talk is pointless whilst the finance position is what it is (whatever that may be). Thought this was supposed to be a fun thread for rumours and a little inside knowledge?

Do we know why it is taking so long? I understood it before as players were on holiday and it was off season. However, we are back now for preseason, playing games and getting the team together. Season starts in only a few weeks. We are leaving it a little late to get the required reinforcements in.

....Or it's like ****ing into the wind to be discussing transfers right now.

people keep on saying how teams in the playoffs etc score 80 plus goals , it really dosent matter if they dont score against us but we do against them then they wont be getting 3 points or maybe 6 points from us ,a team is built from the defence forward not from the attack backwards ask Wrexham if this isnt true . They found out for themselves last season .

Would not be surprised if that's the case. Nothing ever changes.

I will assume the financial situation is stopping any permanent signings for now which is a real shame (although I do feel for those who haven’t been paid). Definitely feel we are still short of having play off quality by 2-3 top quality players.

I think exactly the same. What a perfect opportunity this season to get out of the NL being wasted.
In my opinion a decent centre forward and we are nearly there to compete at the top.
Not feeling very confident if we don’t sign a CF, before anyone says loan market.
Loans are so hit and miss, Ronald get your frecking finger out and resolve these issues.

Because of some of utter rubbish rumours from like of Jim90 (probably an Orient or Col Ewes or Dagenham fan), the club would put an statement up and wouldn’t put an job application on their page if was in case.
