Bit of general knowledge on knee injuries.

When recovering from a knee injury you have to build the muscles up around your knee including your Quads, glutes, calves and Hamstrings

You have to push these muscles to strengthen and as such will cause rips and can easily be fatigued.

Sims latest injury is a direct link to his rehabilitation and no doubt will continue to strengthen after a bit of rest.

Shail we just open a sim akinola thread ffs…he’s done now move on ….

Unlikely, but not impossible if a few things are sorted.
Do we know why it is taking so long? I understood it before as players were on holiday and it was off season. However, we are back now for preseason, playing games and getting the team together. Season starts in only a few weeks. We are leaving it a little late to get the required reinforcements in.

He arrived with an injury and played most games at half pace and his lack of any meaningful goals or performance on the pitch is a major reason why we are in the NL. Not helped by that other waste of space ANG who never passed to Sim when he was in good positions.

PB made it quite clear he was not his ‘cup of tea’ after the relegation. Sim chose to stay because he knew he would not get the wage anywhere else.

He had all summer and two months of the season to get fit. Yet some on here blame PB for the opposition giving him a whack…. No doubt targeted as one of the many Southend players who don’t fancy it. That’s what teams have been doing at RH for the last 3 seasons .

It did improve after Christmas because the CB,CM and briefly the CF players on loan all fancied it.

Let’s hope we have 3 players like that again other wise we won’t be challenging for play offs let alone titles……. Nothing against Sim and wish him luck but if anyone thinks he is the answer they had best look up a guide to NLS.
OK, looks like we need some balance here.

First para:

I don’t remember any mention of SA being injured when he first arrived. Regardless, neither he nor Sam Hart could play anyway as they weren’t registered and this was the case for a couple of months, wasn’t it? So both were behind schedule in terms of match fitness.

Equally, your comment regarding SA and ANG, surely the fact that the former was getting into good positions but not being fed means he was doing his job but suffering from poor service from others.

Para 2:

PB did indeed say that SA wasn’t his cup of tea but others suggested that PB was still impressed with his work rate, attitude, etc.

Para 3:

Linked to the above, not easy to get match fit if your manager doesn’t pick you or consider you. Psychologically it’s horrible and something I’ve experienced.

Then all of a sudden you get a call from that manager less than 24 hours before a game and are expected to hit the ground running. Not enough time for that, especially if you haven’t been part of the preparation, tactics, etc.

For what it’s worth, I don’t really care whether SA signs or not as we should have new blood in attack by the start of the new but I think some of the criticism he has received has been harsh.

Couldn’t have written it better.

Definitely wasn’t injured when he came in, nor did he have any previous injuries coming to us, nor did he suffer any while he was actively playing for us before he was exiled by PB.

I think we will now wait until the season starts and pick up some loans as and when they are needed. Might get one of the trialists in to cover for our injured strikers.

Some good signings i cant wait for the season to start

Whilst I'm not saying you're wrong, as it looks likely that you are correct, that doesn't fill me with confidence.

The opening fixtures have not been kind to us at all. Boreham Wood, Solihull and Halifax all very hard fixtures. Oldham are recruiting well and Eastleigh were very good at home last season. Going into those fixtures with just Dalby as a recognised number 9 simply isn't enough.

I think if we don’t sign some permanent signings before the season starts and just pick up loans throughout the start of the season then this is a very risky move IMO. We have made some very good signings but are still one CB, a centre midfielder a forward and possibly a winger light of having a strong enough and deep enough squad to compete at the top end of the table.
We are desperate for a proven goal scorer at this level if we are going to compete for the top spots this season

I do feel we have potentially a very good side who should challenge for play off place. We are lacking 2/3 signings in certain areas...... we definitely need another striker before start of the season! Preferably permanent. We could do with another centre half and potentially another centre midfielder to act as cover. Loans will do for those positions.

At this point you'd think we'll go for one/both of these trialists if we can get them in on short term deals. Ideally we'd have got a recognised striker in (couple of names mentioned on here) but (alleged) cashflow issues may put the brakes on that. Mind you a lot of fans seem to think Dalby is decent enough to lead the line, he's interesting league 1 teams apparently .. personally I think he needs to develop his game a lot more but who knows, the power of the three amigos and a whole pre-season of coaching .. he could be outmuscling centre backs and be selfishly banging in goals in no time for all I know.

I will assume the financial situation is stopping any permanent signings for now which is a real shame (although I do feel for those who haven’t been paid). Definitely feel we are still short of having play off quality by 2-3 top quality players.
