Looks that way...... Would have been a good acquisition if we could have got him.

Said he was homesick, so interesting to see where he rolls up. Surely not Col U.......

On the Kacper front, how do we expect Sheff Utd to play it out?

If he's dead set on not signing a new deal without assurances of playing time, then they have four paths forwards:

1) Give him assurances and convince him to sign a new deal
2) Loan him out until January at a higher level, trying to get him in the shop window, with the hopes of an increased fee / compensation
3) Sell him this summer should a reasonable offer come along
4) Let him rot in the U23's for a year as a warning to others

#1 seems unlikely as the only assurances would be that he's "in contention" for the squad and it seems Kacper wants more than that.
#2 seems possible but it seems Sheff Utd have said they won't sanction any loans so.
#3 seems the best outcome for all parties, but does anyone have a decent idea of what sort of offer we think Sheff Utd might deem reasonable? I would have thought £50k-£100k plus 20-25% profit sell on would do the trick, but I'm not very knowledgeable on this sort of thing.
#4 seems unwise for all, decreasing his value and thoroughly ****ing him off.

Honestly #3 seems the most likely path forwards, but is there a world in which we could afford him?
I reckon a league one club will come in with a £150k/£200k offer and then develop him or he might go abroad and then the compensation all changes

I am not across either (a) the finances of our football club or (b) the inner mind of Kacper Lopata but surely if he is being sold for that sort of sum we could look to invest a little for future gain?

He’s a League One/Championship level centre half all day long when he reaches his peak. Could sell him for double that in a year or two if we don’t manage to get to a suitable level in that time.

We haven't got that sort of money! 15k - 25k maybe and then in instalments.

If I was the transfer team I'd be trying to get Lopata, offer Sheffield united 50k-100k with a massive sell on clause! If we go and sell him down the Road because he's done really well both parties make profit!

Even if we manage to beat football league clubs to sign him and spend more money than we have in years we are taking a gamble that we are going to sell him on for a profit.

He is a good player with potential but what if we spend over £100k for him(money we probably don't have) and he gets a bad injury or he doesn't push on? It's happened in the past with players with big potential and they ended up going in the opposite direction. Then we lose money that we don't even have in the hope we make a profit. How do we recoup that?

A club like us that has had so much financial issues in the past and have gambled and it hasn't paid off. Why would we gamble again. We have a new regime where we won't be making expensive gambles. We are making minor investments in lower league players where we won't take a huge financial hit if they don't succeed. That's the right way for a club with limited funds.

Our best bet would have been to have him on a six month loan but that is not going to happen now with the contract situation. We can move on to other defensive targets.

Didn't play much this season.

Sbarra, unsurprisingly has had his contract extended via an option and probably will be off to a league club for a decent fee. Two that have their contract expiring are Osborne and Hudlin, but probably unrealistic.

A slightly interesting one is Lois Maynard, on loan from Stockport this season and played CM and CB. Plenty of experience at this level and League 2. However, at 33 and missing a few games at the end of the season due to niggling injuries, I'd expect we won't be looking at him.

I thought Maycock, their CM, had a contract expiring this summer but seems like he is under contract for next season. He has been pretty useful for them this season.
Signs for Huddersfield. That’s a big jump. (No pun intended)

Edit: actually signed for their academy team!

Of course we all want him because he is too good for the NL. Which is probably why we will not see him again.

I'm sure we will have been very well aware of him as we picked up Charlie Sayers from Bowers and Pitsea in very similar circumstances. May be that we were not interested as we feel we have better academy prospects in the same position, or the player might simply prefer the idea of Luton.
I doubt that. Have you been there? He has eyes.
