I think your personal connection to him is clouding your judgment here, this isn't the kind of player we'd be sending our scouts out to watch. We're trying to assemble a team of players that are ready to hit the ground running in a month because they've been standouts at clubs either in this tier or the one below, a bench player for a 7th tier side doesn't fit into that criteria.

It's not like Luton have signed him for their first team and he's some unearthed gem ready to be their star man next season, they've signed him for their academy. He may turn out to be a great signing for them in the long term but signings like these are long term gambles, and as a championship side Luton can afford to make more of them than us.
Whilst I understand and agree with some of your post, it seems strange that we appoint an Academy Manager and as such I would have hoped that we would get the best local talent in our Academy

I think we have already forgotten that we didn't even have a fit for purpose recruitment operation at first team level!!! I'm sure in due course this is another area of improvement.

If you're talking about academy level then we may have enquired but if Luton were interested then we probably didn't have a chance, they're championship whilst we're non-league and if you're not getting into the first team either way you're going to go for the bigger club.

Completely agree in general. However, if they know the player, I am assuming they have been told that SUFC never made an approach. Still, it can happen, especially when our recruitment was woeful and is only being 'fixed' now. Plus, there are always going to be 'ones that slipped through the net'.

Also, somebody else mentioned that the like of Luton can recruit more long term punts than we can and that was a valid point, too.

Shame we miss out on prospects like Tobias here or T as he is known to his friends of which my son is one.

How does our local scouting not pick up on a player like this who went to school in Burnham, played for Burnham Ramblers, and Bowers before signing his first contract at Luton - do we even have a local scouting network?
We're not running an U23 side this season and I believe he'll be too old for U18s, so he wouldn't naturally fit into our structure at the moment. Not forgetting of course Luton are a much bigger pull than ourselves at this moment in any case!

I think we're long past the point where defensive cover is a consideration for Sheff Utd when it comes to Kacper mate :(
On the Kacper front, how do we expect Sheff Utd to play it out?

If he's dead set on not signing a new deal without assurances of playing time, then they have four paths forwards:

1) Give him assurances and convince him to sign a new deal
2) Loan him out until January at a higher level, trying to get him in the shop window, with the hopes of an increased fee / compensation
3) Sell him this summer should a reasonable offer come along
4) Let him rot in the U23's for a year as a warning to others

#1 seems unlikely as the only assurances would be that he's "in contention" for the squad and it seems Kacper wants more than that.
#2 seems possible but it seems Sheff Utd have said they won't sanction any loans so.
#3 seems the best outcome for all parties, but does anyone have a decent idea of what sort of offer we think Sheff Utd might deem reasonable? I would have thought £50k-£100k plus 20-25% profit sell on would do the trick, but I'm not very knowledgeable on this sort of thing.
#4 seems unwise for all, decreasing his value and thoroughly ****ing him off.

Honestly #3 seems the most likely path forwards, but is there a world in which we could afford him?

Same here but as has been pointed out it is about what you do with the player in your team, how you play & the balance with the rest of the team.
Technically he seemed decent, just didn’t seem to have the drive or desire that we’re looking for. Like you say it could be a case of different team, different player.

Saidou Khan leaving chesterfield, wasn’t he someone we were interested in?

yes, I saw this just now from a Spireite:

"Well it appears that Saidou Khan has left the club. Not sure if mutual agreement to cancel contract or if we’ve accepted a bid and he’s left from there.

Guess those rumours about home sickness was true. Personally gutted as I really rated him, but thankfully it’s a position we’re pretty well stacked in so shouldn’t cause a huge issue."

Saidou Khan tweeted……“has been my dream to play as high as possible even before I moved over here from Gambia, and every step up is a step closer to where I have always dreamt to be”

Off to the EFL then.
