Transfer News, Gossip & Speculation Summer/Autumn Transfer Targets/Rumours Thread 2022

It's a very valid question. I am not sure if and when the salary cap of £1.5m will come into play. If it does it only allows us to deploy an extra £100,000 - £150,000 wiggle room. I am also not sure how the salary cap will be structured, will it be based on an overall cap or unique percentage to a clubs turnover.

If you or anyone can, is it possible to link me where Ron said about having access to release more funds depending on stadium progress? I didn't see this.

Tom Lawrence also confirmed the £1.4m budget for this season at the Meet the fans evening hosted by Stan in the Shrimpers Bar last January.

The biggest loss of funding was going to be the academy contribution, being non league for over the 18 months and again Tom was confident the £500k shortfall would be made up by new sponsorship to keep it going.

Bromley aren't far off us, if not higher. Similar Boreham Wood. They're both bankrolled by wealthy individuals and are paying Michael Cheek and Josh Rees respectively over £2,500 per week which we cannot do. Solihull paying Sbarra and Dallas very good money and again, got wealthy backing. Dorking have wealthy backing, pay silly money and Alfie Rutherford is supposedly being paid a little less than £3k per week. I know a single player's wages aren't generally a definitive guide to overall budget, but it gives an idea. Scunny and Oldham will surely have a budget similar to ours having dropped out of the EFL, if not higher again. York will be spending good money too.

I'd put Wrexham, Chesterfield, Notts Co and Daggers ahead of us for definite. I strongly suspect Solihull, Boreham Wood and Bromley will have bigger budgets than we do. And I wouldn't be surprised if Dorking and York are close too. And that's before you even consider Oldham and Scunny.

I don't dispute the £1.4m, but I am 99% sure that there are more than 2 or 3 clubs ahead of us. 6 or 7 are throwing around silly money this summer. I'd put us between 7th and 10th in the budget league table. Losing Mussa to Daggers may have been a wake-up call to some people who were perhaps in stubborn/arrogant denial about financial competition/spending power in this division, so perhaps we won't be 7th-10th for much longer. Who knows?
I’m sorry but you’re view on Bromley’s budget couldn’t be further from the truth. Six out of eight players that they were talking to at the end of the season about new contracts, have now left the club because their salary offer for the new season had been reduced. Also no player at the club is paid anything like £2,500 a week.

It would certainly be worth you reading post #4346 @Shepshead. To everyone - As @Shrimpergarry has said, budget talk is not for this thread, please start a new one or risk deletion on here.

talking about transfers I still think that we are keen to sign cheek I might be wrong but I honestly think he is this striker that we are after… can shepshead say anything on this!! We are locked in talks with a experienced striker

Who has mentioned we are “locked in talks with an experienced striker” ??

It's all guess work. This thread is dead right now.

How about a game, predict our next signing with the below criteria, let's see who gets closer (and if we can unlock someone in the know)

POSITION: Centre Midfielder

LEAGUE: NL

AGE: 24

SIGNING: Next week

Or guess who the striker is that is experienced scored bags of goals at this level and is training with us surely we have more chance with that one? 😀

It doesn't matter how much money a club has. There is a cap across the division
I don't wish to reignite the budget debate, but did this ever come in? I know the National League have been talking about it, but was it ever officially ratified? If so it will obviously affect how many more players we can bring in.
